We LOVE the fall! It’s one of our favorite times of year, especially since it is a time when we gather often as a family to celebrate new and old traditions. Some of our past fall traditions have included apples and caramel, but we decided to change things up a bit this year by having a Carving Party with a Caramel Apple Nacho Bar. You heard me right. We spent the night carving apples and pumpkins while feasting on Caramel Apple Nachos. You see, we have loved Caramel Apple Nachos for a long time but wanted to turn them into a treat that would be perfect for any fall party and knew a dessert bar would be perfect for our gathering. We picked up a variety of apples as well as our favorite caramel dip to make a yummy treat the whole family would enjoy.
We have used Marzetti dips for dipping apples and other fruits for as long as I can remember. Not only did we pick up Marzetti Old Fashioned Caramel Dip, but we also picked up Marzetti Chocolate Fruit Dip, which were both perfect for our nacho bar. Along with these dips, we had a variety of toppings we had on hand from nuts to mini chocolate chips to add even more fun to the mix. Here are some pictures from the night…
A variety of toppings to add to the Caramel Apple Nacho Bar!
The baby even got in on the fun and dipped every slice she could find.
The entire family had so much fun making themselves a plate of apple nachos. They wanted to try every combo of dip and topping possible, and we loved spending the time together. With all the eating, we also had some fun carving apples. Dad had the best luck with his apple and together we made a Frankenstein Apple that the kids went nuts for.
Surprisingly, “Frankie” was pretty easy to make. Here is what you need to do if you’d like to make him too!
Begin by grabbing a Granny Smith apple and with a knife and cutting board, cut off a thin slice from each side of the apple. From there you will cut out 2 smaller circles and 2 larger circles from the excess apple that was cut off. We actually used lids we found around the kitchen to use as “cookie cutters” to help cut out the circles. From there, we dipped the apple and circles in some lemon juice to keep the apple from browning.
From there, we cute Frakenstein’s mouth by cutting a horizontal slit for the mouth and three shorter vertical slits along the horizontal slit. Then, we added a toothpick through either side of the apple at the “base” of the apple to add the circles to for Frankenstein’s bolts. Then we stuck on the apple circles (smaller ones first) on either side.
We used Marzetti Caramel Apple dip for a “glue” and grabbed candy eye balls to add to the apple. Then, we dipped the top of the apple into Marzetti’s Chocolate Fruit Dip which was perfect for Frankie’s hair.
Such a fun family activity! The kids decided we need to have a Caramel Apple Nacho Bar + Carving Party at least once every fall. Along with the apples, the kids decided to carve pumpkins and we decided it was the perfect fall festivity. In case you’d like to have a fall party for yourselves, we put together a cute party invitation for you to use. Just download, fill out and use for your upcoming get together. 😉
