You may not have ever celebrated Chinese New Year, and if you haven’t I insist that you do. It is so much fun!
You may have read my personal story about China and my life-changing experience that happened there {if not, you can find it HERE}. From this story you will know that I LOVE China. I Love the country, the people, the food, everything. In fact, I cannot help myself from busting out my little Chinese when ever I meet someone from China {ask the hubby, he gets embarrassed every time I do it!} LOL.
With the New Year starting today, I wanted to share with you some simple and fun kids crafts that are perfect for celebrating the year of the Dragon.

There is a huge celebration in Arizona in downtown Phoenix at the Chinese Cultural Center, and each year we go as a family to walk around, watch the shows and eat the food. It is the best! If you have never gone, I would highly recommend it. It takes place this week from Friday to Sunday, January 27th – 29th. We will for sure be there! {For more info about that go HERE.}

my dragon is most definitely my husband. he’s so great!!
I would have to say my husband is a dragon. He is always the first out when it snows to shovel all the neighbors driveways and sidewalks. He gives platelets every weekend until they tell him he has to take a break. He is the first to be at any function to help set up and usually one of the last to take it down. If someone has a need, he is there!
my dragon would be my husband, he’s deployed and working very hard to support our family. he’s the best!!! and he comes home soon so this would be perfect!!

The dragon in my life would have to be my mom. She raised me on her own, I cannot imagine raising my daughter without the help and support of my husband. My mom is so strong, and I look up to her very much. She is truly my best friend and without her I don’t think I would be the person I am today!

My husband John is the Dragon in my life. He joined the Army Reserves right before we met and before 9/11. We got married after 9/11 knowing that he will be deployed at least once during our marriage. He did go overseas and we got lucky it was only one time, for 18 months he was gone. He did get a 2 week R&R during the middle of his tour. That’s not the only reason though, he is a computer guy and is always willing to help out or friends and their friends. He provides for us without complaint or expectations from me. He is my Dragon.

I would have to say my little girl is my dragon. She started Chinese Immersion kindergarten this year. To be brave and confident to learn a new language at such an early age really inspires me. She LOVES the language and the culture and hopes to go to China someday!

The dragon in my life would most definitely have to be my son. This kid without a doubt never ceases to amaze me. He’s only 8, and at 8 years old he is so generous. One of my favorite qualities about him is his desire to help others, he’s incredibly thoughtful when he see’s a need and he always makes an effort to help meet that need. Whether it’s someone in his class at school or through church. It’ s anything from a new student who can’t afford new scissors so he bought her a pair himself, to helping a student daily who has a learning disablility to stay on track and strive to do his best. He is always honest, even if he’s had a rough day at school for talking when he wasn’t suppose to…he’s is so super quick to come home and tell us all about it instead of hiding it. This kid shines, and he’s turning into a great man… and I simply just love him!
