Daisies and Donuts Party Details

SO, lots of things to discuss today. There were so many Daisies and Donuts Party Details I knew I couldn’t fit it all into one post, so that’s what I will be attempting to do today.

Here is a pic again of the whole party table:

Super Cute Daisies and Donuts Birthday Party! { lilluna.com }

Doesn’t look like much, but I will go through and break it all down so you can see all the details and tutorials. :)

This was so easy and fun to do!!

I already did the tutorial for the Punched Accordions. If you missed that you can go HERE.

I then also got some Party Fans in the colors I needed. I was going for a pink, red, yellow, apple green, white kind of color scheme. Sounded like a lot of color, but I LOVE how it looks! Here is what you’ll need to do it too…

Crepe paper {however many colors you want – I used 3 – red, pink and green}

Punched Accordions

Party Fans

Fishing Line String

1. Begin by making all your accordions and spreading all of your fans. Set aside.

2. Then you will grab two pieces of crepe paper and twist. You will tape up top and then tape down bottom. You can do this in whatever color combination you want. I did dark pink/green and then dark pink/light pink. As you can see, it doesn’t look perfect. I didn’t try to match the amounts of twists for the perfect look, so no need to feel like it has to be perfect. :)

3 – To cover up the tape on top and bottom, I twisted crepe paper and taped it on top and on bottom.

4 – I then added fishing line to the tops of the punched accordions and party fans, tied the end to a tack and pinned it into the ceiling. I just eye-balled it and made the arrangement filling in the gaps.

It’s that easy!

I LOVE the banner that came with the TomKat Printable Set. To embellish it I just cut pieces of ribbon and tied two in between each pennant. Easy, cute and I already had the ribbon on hand, so no extra cost!

Wanted something to display on the ends of the table and came up with these twig vases that were the perfect touch to what I was looking for.

White Spray Paint

Fishing Line

Scrapbook Paper

Circle Punch

Vase/Holder (got mine for $2.50 in the dollar section at Target)

Paper Grass

Floral Foam

1. Begin by finding your twigs. Make sure they are dry and spray paint. Let dry and then set aside.

2. Add floral foam to holders/vases. Stick twigs in and arrange as dired.

3. Make your garland by punching circles (I used a 3/4 inch. punch) from coordinating scrapbook colors. You will then hot glue circles to fishing line by placing one circle on one side of the line and a match circle on the other. Place however far apart you want them on your string. I did it about every 6 inches.

4. Place garland on twigs.

5. Fill holders/vases with paper grass and display as desire. So simple so easy.

And I love that’s it’s CUTE but CHEAP decor. 😉

This next one is easy peasy. I wanted to have something cute for the milk because you can’t have donuts without milk, right?!

-Glass Bottles (They are $1.50 or $2/each at Hobby Lobby so I got them when the Glassware was 50% off

-Milk Straws (Found at Walmart or other grocery stores by the milk)

1. Wash your jars, set aside and let dry.

2. Glue flags to straws.

3. Attach straws to jar with ribbon or twine. If you haven’t seen these straws they are super cool! They are filled with flavor pellets (Cookies N Cream, Strawberry, Chocolate, Banana, Caramel, Vanilla, etc.) so when you suck on the straw it flavors your milk. My kiddos LOVE them!

The jars were easy to do but they also just added another “touch” of cute-ness to the table.

I wanted to have something to give out as favors. These gumball tubes have been all over Blog World and I thought they would be a cute addition. For these all you have to do is fill with gumballs and attach a tag. How much easier can it be? I put them in this vintage Watering Can of my moms because it matched the cupcake tier and fit with the whole Daisies theme. She wasn’t sure where she got it, but isn’t it a fun piece? I LOVE it!

Super Cute Birthday Milestone Board

I thought it would be fun to have a cute little sign with her 1 year milestones. Lucky for me I had all the supplies on hand, so it was FREE, but technically to but all the items, it would be about $8 or $9. :)

MDF/Hardboard Piece ($3)

-Spray Paint or craft paint

-Vinyl ($1)

1 – Begin by finding the piece you are going to want to display. I had this piece laying around the house that I purchased a few months ago. You could also use a cabinet door front or any piece of wood. Spray paint this the color you want the letters to be. Let dry.

2 – Design vinyl.

Here are the fonts I used. Most are available to download on DaFont.com or at KevinandAmanda.com.

Evie Iris – Honey Bunches

1 – Masquerade

year old – inkling

loves to smile – teen

teeth = 4 – American Typewriter Bold

Fav Words: SNF Goody

Mama – Dada – Uh-Oh – Pupcat

3 – Add your vinyl on top and peel away add adhesive. Spray paint it the color you want it to be on top. I did pink. Let dry. I like to use Rustoleum Spray Paint Enamel just because I feel like it works so well and never leaks through.

4 – Peel away vinyl. Spray with polyurethane if you want a more matte or satin finish and distress edges if desired.
I LOVE how it turned out! And I’m glad I didn’t make this too far in advance. Just a few days after the party Evie got her 5th tooth. :)

And last, but not least….

Next is the Photo-Op. I wanted to have a place where we could take pics with Evie and such. I knew my yellow bench would be perfect. I bought this at a Swap Meet like 6 months ago. I saw it and knew I had to have it. It was $60. Not too bad. The hubby was not happy about it and still thinks it looks ugly, so I laugh every time people walk into our house and say “I love your bench!!” I always just look at Lorin and smile since it’s further proof of it’s AWESOME-NESS. :) We set this up against the wall and then added Flower Poms and Paper Globes from the top. Like the fans in the backdrop we just added fishing line to them, tied them around a tack and inserted them into the ceiling. It worked perfectly and gave the affect I was looking for. :)

Here are some of our pics…

Lot’s to take in, I know!! If you have any questions, just let me know. I’m happy to help. What’s great about this decor is it hardly cost anything, which is always a plus!! :)

Stay tuned ’til tomorrow for the last tut on the Donut Muffins, which will include tuts on the toppers, cupcake wrappers, and the recipe. :)

Super cute! My niece is getting baptized on Saturday so I think I’ll have to make her a fun little sign as well to mark the occasion. Thanks for sharing!

Terrific post and beautiful party, with great tutorials! So glad I found your blog today. Love that it is all so affordable and classy! :)

I am so in love with this party! You did an amazing job. I have four boys, so I daydream about a lovely pink girly party.
However, I would love to incorporate some of these ideas into a boys theme. My sons are 3 (oldest), 2 (identical twin boys), and the “baby” is 18 months. If you have any ideas for boys, I would love to hear them.

You are so creative and I love following your blog.

I love the party that you did called “Daisies and Donuts”. I want to make the same fan cupcake toppers that you made or bought. Can you help me?

  10. 15

I am having my daughters first birthday and I have to say I love the sign. I have the MDF board now but I am having a hard time figuring out the letters. I looked at craft stores for letters but no one has them..if I downlaod them off the sites you listed how do I make them sticky? I am sure this is a dumb question, I am new to crafting and I could use help with the letters?

  11. 16

I’m going to make a sign for my son’s birthday – where do you get the vinyl – I was a little confused about that part on the lettering and vinyl…do you print to the vinyl? Please help! lol

    Thank you – Jenny

Jenny, I asked the same question earlier that day. I can’t figure it out and I am totally bummed. 4 craft stores later and still no luck. Hopefully we will get some help…this was a tough one.

Hi, I love the milestone board but like others I would like to know how do I print and cut letters? I have my sons first birthday party soon. Can you please respond? Thanks
