Green is Good with Sunkist Valencia Oranges

Did you know that Sunkist® Valencia oranges may occasionally “re-green” in warm weather?? When Valencias ripen on the tree, they turn a bright orange color but warm temperatures may make their skin reabsorb chlorophyll as they hang on the tree causing the orange color to look partly green—although the outside is green, the inside remains ripe and delicious!

Sunkist Valencia Oranges Re-greening Video

I was able to try out some Sunkist Valencia Oranges and was so happy to create a SUPER YUMMY recipe using them.

I was kinda going for an Orange Creamsicle type shake but decided to throw some strawberries and a few other goodies in it.

Doesn’t this look good?!

What’s best is it tastes GOOD too!

ORANGE CREAM SHAKE

INGREDIENTS:

- 2-3 Sunkist Valencia Oranges (already peeled)

- 2/3 c. strawberries

- 1 cup ice

- 1/2 tsp. vanilla

- 1 pkg. vanilla pudding

- 3 1/2 c. milk

DIRECTIONS:

Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth.

I also wanted to share some Orange TIPS with you that I didn’t know about…

- Fresh Valencia juice may be squeezed and refrigerated overnight. If tightly covered and immediately chilled, no loss of flavor or Vitamin C will occur.

- Fresh juice packs nutritional power and great taste into all kinds of fruit smoothies. Start with 1/2 cup of juice and 1/2 cup of diced orange in a blender. Add a peeled banana, some frozen berries and 1/2 cup of yogurt. Your body will thank you!
