Sucker Tutorial

Every year, my sisters, mom and I get together to make
SUCKERS
for Valentine’s.

It’s something we’ve done for as long as I can remember!

My mom has had the molds for 20+ years and doesn’t even remember where she got them. I’ve looked everywhere to get them and have only found a few places online to purchase the bad boys.

Just a few months ago while I was at Goodwill, I was able to find an ENTIRE bag of BRAND NEW molds for a BUCK! I cannot tell you how happy it made me.
It had a ton of Halloween Shaped Molds, so I was stoked.

With those molds, we made a ton of suckers this past week, and since they are so FUN and so YUMMY, I thought I’d share the recipe.

SUCKERS

INGREDIENTS:
-1 c. sugar
-1/2 c. water
-1/3 c. corn syrup
-1/4 tsp. flavoring
-1/4 tsp. food coloring
-Candy Thermometer

DIRECTIONS:

(I like the LONG sucker sticks found at Michael’s/Joann’s/Hobby Lobby)

1. Put molds and sticks together. Place on cookie sheet and spray. Put in freezer until candy is ready.

2. Put all ingredients except flavoring and color in a pan. Cook to hard crack stage (300 degrees).

(I like the Wilton Food Coloring since it’s so VIBRANT!)

3. Add flavoring and coloring. Stir about two minutes.

(We did Orange Colored Cinnamon Flavored
and Black Colored Cherry Flavored)
YUM!

4. Pour into molds. Let set for 10-15 minutes.

EXTRA STEP FOR BUTTERSCOTCH/CARAMEL SUCKERS:
*Add 1/2 c. melted butter at 275 degrees. Mix and bring to 300 degrees and continue with Steps 3 & 4.

TIP TO CLEAN POT AFTERWARD:
Put water in pot and boil until candy comes off.

VOILA!

Awesome, yummy, suckers!!
