Gooey Chocolate Hug Cookies

Hi there, it’s me Lily.

Did you know my dad goes to work and he works at a school. He teaches people how to make robot arms and legs. He asked me and my brother to be patient models at his work so his students could practice casting on someone. I had to do this three times but it was a lot of fun (and I even got some money for doing it!)

{This is me with Miss Kate and Miss Fanny in her silly hat! They made this plastic turtle shell (back brace), and I was trying it on. It fit just right!}

On the second time we went there, my mom and me decided to make cookies for the students. Miss Fanny and Miss Kate were the ones who worked on me and they were super nice so I wanted them to have some treats from me.

We already like the Gooey Butter Cookies my mom makes so this time we made them chocolate and added a Hershey’s Hug on top.

I got to try one and they were really good.

This is how we wanted them to look…

The Game Plan - Gooey Chocolate Hug Cookies

My dad said everyone liked them and that they were gone really quick. That made me happy.

Here is the recipe for Gooey Chocolate Hug Cookies to make with your kids too. :)

Gooey Chocolate Hug Cookies
  • 1 Chocolate Cake Box Mix
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 8 oz. Cream Cheese bar
  • 1 egg
  • powdered sugar
  • 1 bag Hershey's Hugs
  1. Beat butter, vanilla, egg and cream cheese in a bowl until it is fluffy.
  2. Mix in the chocolate cake mix and then put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll batter into balls and dip into a bowl of powdered sugar.
  4. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Let cookies cool for 5-10 minutes. Add unwrapped Hugs on top and refrigerate for at least half hour before serving so hugs do not melt from the warmth of the cookies. ENJOY!

When they are still soft we added a Hug!

We put them in the fridge after we added the hug so they didn’t melt.
