Everyone loves a good pico de gallo recipe. With few ingredients and only minutes to make, it’s an addictive favorite!

Because it has less liquid than most salsas, pico de gallo is ideal for serving with Mexican dishes like Tostadas, Chimichangas, or even just with Tortilla Chips.

We Love Pico De Gallo!

You might ask, “what is pico de gallo?”. Well, Pico de gallo is a salsa fresca that is usually chunkier and contains chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, salt, and fresh lime juice.

If you’re anywhere in the Southwest you’ve probably had this served to you at a restaurant with your tacos, salad, or burritos.

Here’s why we love it:

  • Quick and easy. Other than the time it takes to chop up veggies, this recipe is very simple.
  • Customizable. This pico de gallo recipe can be customized with the ingredients you like.
  • Side or topping. It’s great to serve alongside chips or to serve on top of any Mexican food.

Serving this with warm Tortilla Chips will be the highlight of any party or get together. It’s just that good and is so addicting!!

Pico Ingredients

  • red or purple onion – or white onion
  • Roma tomatoes – or plum tomatoes
  • minced garlic
  • garlic salt with parsley flakes
  • lime juice – fresh or bottled

How to make Pico de Gallow

  1. CHOP & COMBINE. To make the pico, chop up all the ingredients (except the chopped cilantro) and add to a bowl.
  2. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Right before serving, add cilantro and avocados, if desired.

Storage Tips

  • STORE. This fresh pico de gallo recipe is best to serve the same day you make it, but if needed it can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • I do not recommend freezing this pico recipe.
