I’m always looking for practical gifts for wedding, showers, birthdays, you name it.
A few years ago my sisters, mom and I decided to make RECIPE RINGS for ourselves, and it was then that I realized that these would make perfect gifts!
{And I must mention that I CANNOT live without mine!}
Today, I will show you how to make Recipe Rings
and will show you how Practical and Great they are!
SUPPLIES:
- Recipes- 4×6 Blank Note Cards
- Colored Paper
- Computer
- Silver Ring
- Laminator
- Hole Punch
DIRECTIONS:
1. Begin by typing up all your favorite recipes by section (Main Dish, Dessert, Side Dishes, Drinks, etc.). This may seem hard, but a TON of recipes are on the web, so all you have to do is copy and paste. Or, if you have sisters, divide the work of typing them up among everyone to make it easier.
2. Make sure that the recipes are shorter than 6 inches long on your Word Program since you will be cutting them out and gluing on the note cards. To make recipes ALL CAPS, highlight your text and right-click. You will see a FONT tool. Go to that and under EFFECTS you can check a square that makes it ALL CAPS.
3. When you are ready to print, make sure the recipes are less than 4 inches tall or make sure you add a few spaces if it’s a long one and you’re going to glue the recipe on the front and back of the index card.
4. Print Recipes onto different COLORS of paper to distinguish the TYPES of recipes they are (desserts, main dishes, etc.) Doing this makes it so easy to find a recipe.
5. Cut out recipes and glue to index cards.
6. Laminate if possible to prevent wear and tear.
7. Hole punch and add ring.
When giving as a gift, I also like to add a little something, whether it be measuring cups or a whisk I bought in the dollar section at Target.
What’s so GREAT about this gift, other than it’s practicality, is that you can continue to type up and print your recipes to add to the ring (which is what we do every year when we find new recipes we love). I know for me it is my one place to find all our
FAMILY FAVORITE RECIPES.
I’m telling ya – it’s cheap, awesome and practical.
