Valentines Be Mine Banner

I guess you could say I copied this next craft.

About 2 year ago, we had a family craft night and made
some awesome Christmas Banners.
I LOVE how they turned out.
I actually liked it so much so that I decided to do a
Valentines Be Mine Banner
the same way.

The only problem was I wanted to use OFFWHITE/CREAM
Crepe Paper and couldn’t find any. I’ve been looking for some for awhile now
(I knew they had some online but didn’t want to pay for shipping).

This past weekend I found someone at a Party City and was ecstatic….
especially because it was actually white crepe paper that was just old and sun damaged.
PERFECT!

With my offwhite crepe paper and a few other supplies, I made this:

I already had the nails in my hutch for the Christmas Banner
{which says BELIEVE}
and was happy I already had the perfect spot for it.

This is how I did it:

SUPPLIES:
-Crepe Paper
-Sewing Machine
-Tag Pattern
-Scrapbook Paper
-Chipboard
-Mod Podge
-Glitter
-Hot Glue

DIRECTIONS:

1. Begin by sewing your crepe paper. Some machines will naturally gather it for you, but if yours doesn’t no worries. If you just sew along one edge (be sure to back-stitch at the beginning), you can gather it yourself at the end. Sew a straight stitch along 3-4 ft. of crepe paper. Cut the paper and gather by pulling on one string at the end and scrunching the paper as you go.

2. Next you will need to come up with your “tag.” I had a pattern from a piece of chipboard that I used. I traced it onto 7 pieces of scrapbook paper that I cut out. To embellish it a tid more, I decided to do a zig zag stitch all around.

3. Then print and cut out the letters you want to use for the banner. I used the Coney Island font and used Word to come up with the stencils.

4. Once letters are cut out, trace onto chipboard. Cut out.

5. Mod podge letters and apply glitter shaking off excess. Let dry.

6. I also used Word to cut out an oval. I traced this oval onto the back of some scrapbook paper. I did this 7 times for my seven tags. I then glued the ovals onto the tags.

7. After tags are on I applied some hot glue all around the oval and applied my crepe paper.

8. Hot glue glitter letters to centers of tags.

9. Hole punch tops.

And now you’ve got an easy, unique and cute Valentines Banner.

I’m likin’ (not necessarily lovin’ since I’ve done the same kind before) the banner.

More than anything I’m just glad I have another Valentines craft to decorate with!

ENJOY!

Way cute!! Crepe paper is my new BFF when it comes to crepe paper!! I even ran some through my ruffler foot on my sewing machine. It turned out so fabulous! Can't wait to use it again.
