Hi Lil Luna Readers! This is Sarah again from over at Boxwood Clippings.
Today I have another fun, fast and easy project for you. This one is just in time for the 4th of July holiday: a cute ‘USA’ decoration.
Red, White and Blue are pretty hard to beat this time of year, but sometimes a more subtle look is just right for the occasion. I’ve been looking for a white and silver patriotic decoration for a while; with no luck, I headed to Hobby Lobby and picked up some of these paper-mâché letters to embellish.
This little nook in my kitchen was looking for a little patriotism!
Here are the letters ‘as is’:
Then I gave them a little white-wash with craft paint.
Next, the fun part: different designs on each one! It’s fun to come up with different ways to make a pattern. For the ‘U’ I simply used the end of a pencil as a stamp.
For the ‘S’, I created thick stripes; and for the ‘A’ I made fine dots arranged in swirls to look a bit like fireworks.
Here’s how they looked together:
To finish, I wanted to add a little festivity with some glitter. I just used glue and went to town!
They turned out really cute (and even better in person). Sometimes it’s hard to capture the ‘sparkle’ on camera!
As always, a little holiday decorating can go a long way. Quick, simple projects are key to bringing out the best of the holiday!
Love it, Sarah!! SO simple and so pretty… just perfect for the Fourth!
