Simple and Delicious

We go through a lot of effort to find the best recipes and ideas to share on this site. Some are totally made up from my head and others are inspired by other recipes we have had over the years or have seen in magazines and old cookbooks.

We love testing out these recipes and recently came across one that everyone loved. It’s for a delicious Crescent Breakfast Rings that is filled with so much goodness including – eggs, cheese, bacon and peppers!

This Breakfast Rings takes a little more work than your standard eggs and potatoes, but trust me – it’s worth it. And still so simple!

How to make a Crescent Ring

As mentioned, this recipe is simple and can be filled with any of your favorite ingredients. This is how we make our breakfast version. Begin, by preheating the oven to 375.

BACON. Cook bacon and set aside.

EGGS. In a bowl, beat ⅓ milk, egg salt and pepper until well mixed. Add peppers and pour into bacon pan and cook until thickened through out but still moist. Set aside.

CRESCENT DOUGH. Add parchment paper to a large cookie sheet. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Layer dough around making a 4 inch circle in the middle with the points towards the outside of the cookie sheet (see pic below). Press the overlapping dough together.

LAYERS. Add bacon around the center of the circle at the tops of the triangles and top with ⅓ cup shredded cheese. Spoon eggs on top of cheese and add another ⅓ cup of cheese on top of the eggs.

WRAP. Add pointed ends of dough and wrap around eggs, tucking under the dough to form a ring (filling will be visible).

BUTTER. Brush top of dough with melted butter and the remaining cheese.

BAKE. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Top with cilantro and serve warm. ENJOY!

What can I use instead of canned refrigerated crescent rolls? If refrigerated canned crescent dough is not accessible or you prefer homemade, then you have a few options. Be aware that the bake time may be different so watch carefully.

  • Puff pastry has a different texture, but can work as well.
  • Make your own crescent dough
  • You can even contact a local bakery and purchase crescent dough

Making Ahead and Storing

Can I make this ahead of time? You can assemble this the night before. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake.

How do I store leftovers? If you happen to have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. Reheat in a toaster oven, oven or even microwave.

Variations: Remember, this can be changed up to your liking. Change out the cheese, or use sausage instead. You can even add potatoes to the ring and other veggies. The possibilities are endless.

If you love the tastes of bacon, eggs, peppers, cheese and crescent rolls then I think you will enjoy this dish just as much as we did. It’s great for holidays, brunch or weekend breakfast gatherings.

  1. Is there a way to make/prepare this ahead of time so it can just be stuck in the oven when you want it? Thanks!

    1. There sure is! You can assemble this the night before. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. 🙂
