Come Spring, I entertain constantly. And being the Fashionable Hostess that I am, I always have a cheese platter awaiting guests on my coffee table to snack on while we shmooze over cool spring-friendly drinks – cold Lemonade, Arnold Palmers, or for the more rowdy crowd, Vodka Thyme Lemonade. To change up my go-to cheese platter {which can feel a tad stale after an ice cold winter}, I like to incorporate some fun COLORFUL additions that have my guests leaving impressed {yes, we are talking Instagram worthy!}, satisfied, and happy to report – light! Yes, light, like non-fattening. I mean we are about to be wearing shorts and bathing suits, so who would object!

MY OTHER RECIPES

So what did I use to put together this beautiful platter? First things first, bu-bye chips and crackers, hello beautiful colorful Artisanal dried fruit crisps {my favorite: Simple and Crisps}. I specifically like blood orange and orange crisps for looks because they really brighten up the plate. Then for every cheese platter I always serve two cheeses- one hard and one soft. I cannot get enough of Parmigiano Reggiano {and most people are comfortable with it} so it’s always a go-to for my hard cheese. My Baked Brie was a winter pleaser, but for spring I love a rich goat and there’s nothing yummier {and again colorful} than one with mixed in cranberries.

Next, dried apricots {A great healthy addition!} and the orange is perfect tied back to the blood orange Simple & Crisps. To provide provide guests a little dose of energy and protein, I like to include a few small bowls filled with two different nut options; here I chose walnut and macadamia. I recommend choosing one that’s salted and one that isn’t. {*Important note- I like placing them in bowls because if someone were to have a nut allergy I could quickly remove them from the platter!}. Lastly, two fresh fruits are the final touch; here I chose red seedless grapes and sliced Asian Pear. Asian Pear is so sweet and juicy and is especially delicious paired back with a slice of Parmigiano Reggiano.

So there you have it, a delightful mix of textures, colors, and flavors, with endless options to choose from that I hope you and your guests enjoy!

If you could just box that up and send it to me, that would be fabulous!!!! Out of curiosity, is that a local goat cheese you buy or a specific brand? Someone told me Trader Joe’s had some really good “fruity cheese” (lol…Is there another name for it? Dessert cheese, maybe?), but I keep forgetting to go look.
