Super CUTE Cookies in a Jar Gift idea and FREE Printable Label on { lilluna.com } A fun gift that anyone will enjoy!! Grab some ingredients, a jar, ribbon, and your label!

Hi friends! I am thrilled to be back here at Lil Luna to share a cool new twist on what has been my all time biggest recipe at The Pinning Mama. Since I originally posted this Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe it has been pinned almost 150 THOUSAND times and viewed almost half a MILLION times! Crazy huh?! But in reality, these cookies really are THAT good! They are the chocolate chip cookie you have always dreamed of. They are big. They are thick. They are chewy. They are all around amazing!

I thought that since the holidays are just around the corner and school is now in full swing and gifts are needed at every random moment, it would be the perfect time to share how I modify my cookie recipe to make it into the perfect gift for anyone and everyone on your gift list! I even designed a super cute chalkboard label that you can print out and use to give the cookie jar the perfect finishing touch!

What you will need to make the Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar:

  • 1 Quart Wide Mouth Mason Jar
  • Free Printable Cookie Jar Label {Scroll to the bottom for download link}
  • Approx 12″ of 1/2″ ribbon
  • 2 Cups + 2 Tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 Teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 Cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 Cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 Bag Nestle mini chocolate chips

First make sure your mason jar is clean and dry and your label is ready, printed, and cut. Then mix the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt together and pour it into the mason jar. Shake the jar back and forth gently to make sure the flour is packed evenly and level.

Next add the brown sugar to the jar and use your hand to pack it down as firmly and evenly as possible. You want all the ingredients to be a tightly packed as you can get them so that they stay in their pretty layers and don’t move around and mix together as you move and transport the jar.

Last, top with the white sugar and then pack the chocolate chips in all the way to the top of the jar so there is no extra space in the jar.

To close the jar, place the inside round piece on top of the jar. Then position your label so that the instructions are centered on the lid and the extra bit of the ribbon hangs over each side. Place the top of the lid over the label and screw it onto the jar, gently holding the label in place as you go.

To finish it off, just get a pretty ribbon and tie it right around the neck of the jar, add a gift tag if desired, and you are all set to go!

I just made these cookies from your blog! They are in the oven now and smell heavenly! Then I looked at the recipe for cookies in a jar gift and noticed that you used half of the dry ingredientsfor the jar, but the label on the jar indicates you need the full recipe amount of butter, shortening, eggs, vanilla.

If I don’t have any shortening, do you think I could get away with coconut oil, which is the same basic consistency (in it’s solid state) as shortening?
