Have you thought about doing handmade gifts for the kids this year?? I’m making it a goal to make them one of their presents each year, just because those are the gifts I remember most when I was a kid. In fact, I still own most blankets that my grandma and mom made for me when I was young and I cherish them. In fact, my mom has continued to make and give homemade gifts like blankets and church bags and those are the gifts we love most! Each year, my mom asks me what she can get for the kids and for the past few years I’ve been asking for her to make gifts. Yes, I do know it can take more time, but they are usually less expensive and more appreciated. Wouldn’t you agree??
This year, I’m hoping to make a few pieces for their rooms along with a family yearbook that they can enjoy (my kids LOVE photo books!!) If you’re looking for some DIY Gifts for kids, this is a great collection. There are gifts for baby, little boys and little girls and I know my kids would flip out over them!! I think I may have to make the Portable Lego Case because Legos are the “hot toy” in our house right now. š
Check out these gifts and hopefully they provide some inspiration for you and your gift giving this year…

So many wonderful and fun ideas here. I agree a homemade gift is one that lasts a lifetime and the memories attached with it grow fonder as the years go by.
I received a patchwork comforter made from old clothes from my uncle and his family so long ago. In fact, before I had kids, who are grown now. It was kind of funky but we use it when we go to watch fireworks to sit on or when our dog decides he has to be in bed with us.
Looking at it now after my uncle is long gone, each piece represents a family member making it so much more valuable. It was what they could afford at the time and made with love from each and everyone in his home, making it that much more precious now.
You can’t put a price on that.
