What’s Not to Love?!

We love to whip up cute treats for Easter like Easter Basket Cookie Cups, Easter Dirt Cake, and these Easter cupcakes for an Easter celebration. Decorating cupcakes to look like a nest makes for a cute and festive Easter Dessert!

These festive treats are made by decorating cupcakes with Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs and just a few more simple ingredients. Aren’t they super cute?!

Why we love them:

  • Simple. These cupcakes truly are so simple! Make your favorite cupcake recipe or even a boxed version and go from there.
  • Quick. The part that takes the longest is decorating, and that’s the best part! The kids also love to help.
  • So cute. Frosting grass, a Reese’s Easter Egg, candy eyes, and a frosting beak dress up these darling Easter Cupcakes perfect for Easter Dinner or Easter brunch!

How to make Easter Cupcakes

  1. CUPCAKES. Prepare cake batter & bake in cupcake liners according to the box’s instructions. Let cool completely.
  2. FROSTING. Beat the butter, vanilla, and salt together for 1 minute. Add the powdered sugar and milk and beat for 1 minute, scrape down the sides, remove a ⅓ cup of the frosting, and place in a small bowl. Add the green food coloring (a few drops) to the large bowl and beat for an additional minute.
  3. DECORATE. Place the green buttercream frosting in a piping bag with a grass tip and pipe onto the cupcakes.
    • Add the orange food coloring (a few drops) to the reserved frosting and mix until combined. Place the orange frosting in a piping bag with a small round tip and pipe a beak, two dots for eyes, and feet onto Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs. Place the eyes on. Add the eggs to the top of each cupcake along with sprinkles.

Cake Variations

If you do not want to use box cake mix, make some delicious cupcakes using one of our favorite recipes (any flavor works):

RECIPE TIPS + Storing

  • Chick’s body. Reese’s does make yellow-colored peanut butter cup eggs. If you cannot find them, purchase the chocolate ones and dip each into yellow candy melts.
    • You can also use Reese’s bunnies or candy eggs instead (jelly beans, Whoppers eggs, Cadbury eggs all work!)
  • Make ahead of time. Store Easter chick cupcakes in the fridge until ready to serve. We recommend not making them more than 24 hours in advance.
    • You can also make the cupcakes and freeze them undecorated. When you’re ready, thaw and frost and add candy before serving.
