LOVE Blocks with free printables { lilluna.com } Super cute decor or would make a cute gift. Few supplies needed!!

Hello Friends! It’s Marie from Blooming Homestead and I am so excited to be here at Lil’Luna as one of the 2015 contributors. Today I am sharing one of my most favorite Valentine Crafts ever! These LOVE Blocks are simple to make and are such a fun addition to your Valentine’s Day Decor.

I made some similar LOVE Blocks from a kit several years ago with scrapbook paper and vinyl lettering and I have had so many people ask me how they could make them. The shop where I purchased the kit is no longer in business, so I’ve created these adorable printables for you to make some similar LOVE Blocks of your own.

SUPPLIES:

MY OTHER RECIPES
  • LOVE printable
  • 2×4 Blocks cut into 1-6″ high, 2-4″ high, 1-5″ high
  • modge podge
  • brush
  • white paint
  • black ink
  • Ribbon, ric rac, & embellishments

To start you’ll want to print out the LOVE printable found here, and prepare your blocks. If you don’t have a way to cut your blocks to the sizes mentioned above, you can always have them cut the 2×4 down at the hardware store. You’ll want to sand down your blocks and prep them for painting.

I chose to add water to my white craft paint for a whitewashed look.  You can paint them any color you choose, just make sure the paint dries completely before you apply your paper.

While paint is drying you can cut out your paper letters to your block size. Now you’ll gently tear around the edge of each letter and apply a little ink to distress the edges.

After your blocks are dry you can modge podge your letters onto the corresponding blocks.

When your letters are dry you can add on your ribbon and embellishments to finish them off. Now you have super adorable Valentine Love Blocks!

These are adorable. Thanks for sharing! When doing the modge podge part do you place the letter on the block and modge podge over the front or just the back like glue? Sorry if that’s a weird question. Thanks for your help and sharing. Have a great day!

I’m not sure what Marie does, but I mod podge on the back and leave the top un-mod podged. It’s up to you though. If you add a layer of mod podge on top it adds a nice little sealing layer on top. It realls just comes down to preference if you like the look of it or not. 😉

I have done it both ways. With these I left the top un-modge podged. Sometimes modgepodging over top creates wrinkles and lifting.

Those are adorable! A great way to use the scrap wood in my garage

Scrap wood is the best!! I use mine for all sorts of projects too. 😉
