WHy we Love it!

Today, we wanted to share with you our favorite homemade peach cobbler recipe that the entire family loves!

Why is it so great?

  • Prep. Takes just a few minutes and is so simple.
  • Pantry Staples. It’s made with pantry staples, which makes it a go-to!
  • Fresh or Canned Peaches. It can be made with either.
  • Easy to Double. Which is great for serving a crowd.

Ingredients

  • can of peaches – the whole can (peaches and juice)
  • butter
  • all-purpose flour
  • sugar
  • milk – we recommend at least 2% milk
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • cinnamon – it’s optional, but it does add more flavor

How to Make Peach Cobbler

  1. PREP. Preheat your oven to 350°F and melt the butter in a 9×9 baking dish in your oven.
  2. CAKE. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, sugar, milk, baking powder, and salt really well. Take the pan out of the oven once the butter is melted and pour the batter mixture over it.
  3. PEACHES. Spoon the peaches (with the juice) over it. Do NOT mix!!
  4. BAKE + SERVE. Bake for 30-35 minutes and serve warm.

We love to serve it with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and Whipped Cream!

prefer to use Fresh Peaches?

I personally like to use canned peaches, because I think they taste just as good, and it saves so much time, but to use fresh peaches you need a boiled fresh peach mixture.

  1. Take 2 cups of freshly sliced peaches (about 4-5 peaches, peeled, cored, and sliced), ¾ cup of sugar, and a dash of salt, and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Pour over batter into the 9×9 pan. Do not mix!
  3. The rest of the recipe remains exactly the same.

Recipe Tips

  • Add berries. Add some blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries, but toss them in some cornstarch first.
  • Switch the spice. Replace the cinnamon with a similar favorite spice such as 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, allspice, or a Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Check for doneness. The biscuit topping will rise to the top and become a nice golden brown. The peach filling at the bottom will be bubbly.

Storing Tips

  • STORE. Cover and store easy peach cobbler at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • TO REHEAT. We love having cobbler warm. To reheat the quick peach cobbler, use the microwave and reheat in 30-second increments. To reheat it on the stove, just bake at 350°F for 10 minutes if at room temperature, and about 20 minutes if the cobbler is chilled.
  • FREEZE. Cover with plastic wrap then again with foil and store for up to 8 months. Our peach cobbler can be frozen. After baking, let the cobbler cool and cover with plastic wrap then again with aluminum foil. Freeze for 6-8 months.
  • TO REHEAT FROZEN. Thaw overnight in the fridge. Remove plastic wrap, replace foil, and bake in a preheated oven to 350°F for about 20 minutes.

I loved the flavor, it was very good with the ice cream. Just one question, why did I have melted butter sitting on the bottom of the the pan? Thanks for the recipe.

    1. That is a good question. There might be a little, but there shouldn’t be a puddle of butter. I wish I knew? Glad you liked the flavor!

I’ve made this type of recipe for 20 yrs and it’s good… I got sick and wasn’t able to make it for awhile.. Then lost the recipe and came here and found it… But it says 1/2 cup of butter.. Then melt 1 cube in oven .. When it says mix milk, flour , salt etc. it doesn’t mention the rest of the butter. If I melt a cube .. Where the 1/2 cup going ? I can’t remember since I lost my recipe ..

      1. Oh I’m happy you found one similar to yours from 20 years ago. So the one cube of butter is the 1/2 cup. The ingredient list includes how much (1/2 cup) and then in the directions, it refers to that same amount as a cube, since one cube of butter = 1/2 cup. Hopefully that helps make sense! So, you’ll melt the 1/2 cup (one cube) of butter and then add the batter on top of that. No extra butter added later. 🙂

        1. This isn’t right – a cube of butter is half a stick, not half a cup. Half a cup is a long stick, a rectangle. The reviews say 1/2 cup of butter is too much and I would agree. You should fix this to say half a stick, which is 1/4 cup.

This a very easy and delicious cobbler. I like more peaches so l added another can. I have not found another recipe to beat this one.

    1. That makes me so happy to hear! Nothing wrong with adding more peaches! I do too! Thank you!
