Hey Lil’ Luna readers! I’m Kristin from Yellow Bliss Road, and I’m so excited to be joining the Lil’ Luna Creative Team this year! Isn’t Kristyn fabulous?? I’m here today to share a yummy recipe for a sugar cookie glaze made with Cinnamon Red Hots. They offer a uniquely sweet and spicy take on traditional frosted sugar cookies.
I love sugar cookies, in fact they could probably be billed as my absolute favorite cookie ever, but I have to admit that once you add the frosting and the sprinkles and all that extra goodness, the taste of the actual cookie is a little lost, and that’s my favorite part! So when I tried his recipe, I was pretty excited for how it came out.
It’s a pretty simple recipe, but it goes pretty quickly. The key to success is to be prepared. So the first thing you’ll want to do is to bake your favorite sugar cookies (It just so happens that I posted my favorite Sugar Cookie recipe today, and I think it’s pretty amazing). Once the cookies are completely cooled, you can make the glaze. Lay the cookies out on some waxed or parchment paper before you start so they are ready for the Red Hots Drizzle (sounds like a line dance doesn’t it?). Next you’ll melt the red hots with some boiling water and add a little butter and sugar then drizzle immediately over cooled sugar cookies.
Add some pretty Valentine sprinkles or red hots to decorate.
Valentine Sugar Cookies with Red Hots Glaze Recipe
Instructions
- Be sure to prep for this recipe by laying out your cooled sugar cookies on parchment or waxed paper so they are ready for the Red Hot Drizzle. (That sounds like a line dance, doesn't it?)
- Add the red hots and the water to a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir almost constantly while they are melting. When they are almost completely melted, add the butter and sugar and stir to combine. Remove from heat and immediately drizzle over cooled cookies. Add some Valentine sprinkles, if desired.
- The glaze will begin to cool and harden rapidly so you want to move as quickly as possible. It will still be soft consistency, similar to caramels and other chewy candies.
I hope you enjoy the recipe, and I’ll see you again next month!

Super delicious! We always put red hots on our sugar cookies when baking at Christmas time. This red hot glaze is going to wow my family. Thanks so much 🙂
These look so good- like you said, a different take on regular sugar cookies. Yum!
Looks so amazing!!

Looking HOT! So yummy 🙂
I made the red hot glaze exactly according to the directions, but unfortunately it didn’t work 🙁 Not sure why – but it didn’t get thick or harden up at all, it’s liquidy and therefore won’t drizzle. I’m wondering if I should try again using less water?
Same problem here. 🙁
Never thought of doing a glaze with red hots! My husband is going to devour these cookies!
