  • 1 tbsp butter, unsalted
  • ½ cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 3 tsp minced garlic
  • 4 14.5 ounce cans chicken broth full sodium
  • 1 14.5 ounce can vegetable broth
  • ½ pound (or 2) chicken breasts, seasoned, cooked and chopped
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 ½ cups medium egg noodles


  • Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add celery and carrots and cook until just tender, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook an additional minute.
  • Then, add broths, chopped chicken, basil, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, add egg noodles and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve warm.



Slow Cooker Directions: Just add all the ingredients into the slow cooker, except the noodles. Cover and cook on low for 6 - 7 hours or on HIGH for 2 - 3 hours. Add the noodles and cook an additional 30 - 40 minutes, or until the noodles are tender.
