Cinnamon Bread French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 slices cinnamon bread toasted or slightly stale
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Toppings

  • fruit, powdered sugar, whipped cream, buttermilk syrup

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl or cake pan, whisk milk, eggs, and egg yolks together. Add sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth.
  • Soak cinnamon bread slices in mixture until saturated, 10–15 seconds per side.
  • Heat butter on a griddle or in a frying pan over medium heat. Add bread slices and cook until golden brown, 2–3 minutes per side.
  • Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Make Ahead: Wrap a few slices individually in plastic wrap and freeze them in a resealable plastic freezer bag. Eat within 1–2 months for the best quality. 
To reheat: Place frozen toast on a foil-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Bake at 375°F for 8–10 minutes or use a toaster.
Kick it up a notch: Try using thick slices of French bread, sourdough, or cinnamon bread.
