Ham and Bean Soup Recipe

Easy ham and bean soup is perfect for using up leftover ham. It is warm, hearty, and full of savory flavors!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium carrots, sliced into coins
  • 2 ribs celery, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ tablespoon onion, minced
  • 4 (15.5-ounce) cans great northern beans, rinsed and drained
  • 4 cups chicken broth, low sodium
  • 2 cups cooked cubed ham
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • garlic salt (with parsley flakes), to taste
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  • Use butter to sauté the carrots and celery in a large sauce pan until tender.
  • Add onion, beans, broth, ham, garlic, pepper, garlic salt and bay leaf to the pot.
  • Add in the sautéed carrots and celery.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the bay leaf before serving.
