Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Servings: 15 brownies
- 1 (16.3-ounce) box Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Mix, plus ingredients on the box
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons mint extract
- 2-3 drops green food coloring
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a 9x13 dish with parchment paper and lightly grease.
Make brownies as instructed on the box and bake in the baking dish.
Beat the powdered sugar, butter, mint extract, food coloring and milk until smooth in a medium bowl. Spread evenly over the cooled brownies (we add dollops all over the top to make it easier to spread).
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and butter until smooth. Spread over the mint layer, cover, and chill for at least 1 hour.
Let set out for 20-30 minutes before cutting into squares.
Recipe Tips.
- Box brownie ingredients typically include water, vegetable oil, and eggs.
- Let brownies cool completely before adding the mint layer.
- Use a light hand with mint extract so it is not overpowering.
- Chill long enough so layers set for clean slicing.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal and cutting.
- Store in the fridge and bring to room temperature before serving for the best texture.
Store brownies in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days. To freeze, wrap individual brownies in plastic wrap, put in a freezer-safe bag, and freeze for up to 3 months.
