Servings: 36
- 1 pound pork sausage
- 1 ¼ cups baking mix, such as Bisquick ®
- 8 ounces cream cheese,
- 8 ounces Sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Mix sausage, baking mix, cream cheese, and Cheddar cheese in a large bowl until well combined.
Scoop out with a small cookie scoop, roll into 1-inch balls, and place on a lightly greased, foil-lined baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven until browned and no longer pink in the centers, 22 to 24 minutes.
Recipe Tips.
- Let the cream cheese sit at room temperature before mixing. This makes it easier to combine with the sausage and baking mix.
- Freshly shredded sharp cheddar tends to blend more easily and melt smoothly into the sausage mixture.
- Use a small cookie scoop to make evenly sized sausage balls so they bake at the same rate.
- Bake until golden brown and cooked through. An instant-read thermometer can help you confirm that the pork sausage reaches 160°F.
Make ahead of time. Shape the sausage balls up to a day ahead, cover, and refrigerate until ready to bake. To freeze, place shaped balls on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Transfer to a freezer-safe bag and bake straight from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
Store. Store leftovers in the fridge for 4-5 days or place in the freezer for up to 6 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
