Easy French Toast Recipe

- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 slices brioche bread toasted or slightly stale
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Toppings
- fruit, powdered sugar, whipped cream, buttermilk syrup
In a medium bowl or cake pan, whisk milk, eggs and egg yolks together. Add sugar, cinnamon, salt and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth.
Soak bread slices in mixture until saturated, 10–15 seconds per side.
Heat butter on a griddle or in a frying pan over medium heat. Add bread slices and cook until golden brown, 2–3 minutes per side.
Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
Make Ahead: Wrap a few slices individually in plastic wrap and freeze them in a resealable plastic freezer bag. Eat within 1–2 months for best quality.
To reheat: Place frozen toast on a foil-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8–10 minutes. You can also use a toaster.
Kick it up a notch: Try using thick slices of French bread, sourdough or even cinnamon bread.
