Servings: 8
- 1 pound fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat the grill to high heat. Toss the asparagus spears with the olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper, parmesan, and garlic. Toss again.
Grill the asparagus over high heat for 2-3 minutes, until tender. Serve immediately.
Recipe tips.
- The woody ends of the asparagus are tough and need to be trimmed. Bend the asparagus stalks, they will snap at the tender part right where the thicker portion begins.
- You must preheat the grill. The stalks should sizzle and start to char right away.
- Grill asparagus perpendicular to the grill grates so the stalks don't slip through, or use a grill basket.
- Wrap your asparagus in foil packets or grill bags before throwing them on the grill. Allow to cook for 10-15 minutes, depending on the size.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave, skillet, or broil in the oven.
