Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill to high heat. Toss the asparagus spears with the olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper, parmesan, and garlic. Toss again.
  • Grill the asparagus over high heat for 2-3 minutes, until tender. Serve immediately.

Notes

Recipe tips.
  • The woody ends of the asparagus are tough and need to be trimmed. Bend the asparagus stalks, they will snap at the tender part right where the thicker portion begins.
  • You must preheat the grill. The stalks should sizzle and start to char right away.
  • Grill asparagus perpendicular to the grill grates so the stalks don't slip through, or use a grill basket.
  • Wrap your asparagus in foil packets or grill bags before throwing them on the grill. Allow to cook for 10-15 minutes, depending on the size.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave, skillet, or broil in the oven.
