Fried Green Beans

Crisped to perfection and ready in under 30 minutes, crunchy fried green beans will make your appetizer dreams come true!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans, fresh
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Blanch green beans by bringing a pot of water to a boil and cooking beans for about 2 minutes (or until bright green). Immediately add beans to an ice bath (bowl of ice water). Drain beans and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Heat oil on medium-high heat in a large saucepan or deep fryer.
  • While oil is heating, add flour to a medium bowl, beaten egg to a separate bowl, and bread crumbs to another bowl.
  • Dredge green beans in flour, transfer to egg mixture, and coat. Add to bread crumbs and make sure the entire bean is coated.
  • Fry green beans in oil until golden brown (about 4 minutes). Once fried, add to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with dips.

Notes

Recipe tips.
  • Be sure to coat the green beans evenly in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs. Also, maintain a consistent oil temperature. If it's too low, the breading can fall off.
  • Feel free to add extra seasoning. To make spicy fried green beans, add black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic salt, and paprika.
  • We love to dip fried green beans in Ranch dressing, but Fry SauceAvocado Lime Ranch DipChipotle Ranch, or Dill Vegetable Dip are good too.
  • Instead of oil frying in a large skillet, you can use an air fryer (390°F for 5-6 minutes) or bake them in the oven (425°F for 12-15 minutes).
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. To reheat, use an air fryer or broil in the oven.
