Monte Carlo Sandwich Recipe + All Things DISNEY

Today is about all things DISNEY!
We are going to the happiest place on earth this week, and to prepare, I wanted to get in the right mind set…

If you have been to Disneyland, you may have had their Monte Cristo Sandwiches found at the Blue Bayou {the ride inside Pirates of the Caribbean}.
If not, I apologize.
These sandwiches are DELISH!
I’ve posted this recipe before, but it was when I first started blogging and wanted to make sure everyone saw it so that they could try it out, because I promise, you’ll LOVE it!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: MONTE CRISTO SANDWICHES

INGREDIENTS:
-6 slices swiss cheese
-6 slices cooked chicken or turkey breast slices
-6 slices ham
-12 slices white bread
-Vegetable oil for frying
-Powdered Sugar

BATTER:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 TB baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/3 cups water1 egg beaten


DIRECTIONS:

1. To make batter, sift together flour, baking powder and salt. In separate bowl, mix water and egg. Add egg mixture, blend thoroughly.

2. Make sandwiches, placing 1 slice of cheese between 1 slice of turkey and 1 slice of ham. Cut sandwiches in half and put in a toothpick to hold the sandwich together.

3. Dip in batter and fry in 360 degree oil until golden.

4. Drain on paper towels. Remove toothpick and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: PUPPY CHOW MIX

Recipe, Tip, Deal and Video of the Week: Puppy Chow Mix
Recipe Type: Snack

Serves: LOTS
A super yummy and delicious snack perfect for your next party or movie night!
Ingredients
  • 9 cups of chex {any variety}
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Stove top directions:
  2. Into large bowl, measure cereal, set aside.
  3. In 1 quart sauce pan, heat chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter over low heat stirring frequently until melted.
  4. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
  5. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated.
  6. Pour into two gallon resealable plastic bags.
  7. Add powdered sugar.
  8. Seal bag and shake until well coated.
  9. Spread over waxed paper to cool.
  10. Store in airtight containers.

Swedish Pancakes

First off,I wanted to thank all of those who helped me out with THE GREAT PUMPKIN SERIES!

Now, it’s back to the grind…
I hope you like this next recipe as much as we do.And let me preface by saying they are NOT crepes.They are Swedish Pancakes.I learned there is a BIG difference when I married into a Swede family. :) What’s great is we have these for dinner all the time, and they are sooo good, especially with the buttermilk syrup recipe!

Swedish Pancakes
Recipe Type: Breakfast

Serves: 20-24
A super yummy, quick and easy way to make delicious Swedish Pancakes and Buttermilk Syrup.
Ingredients
  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 3 c. milk
  • 3 TB melted bytter
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • BUTTERMILK SYRUP:
  • 1 cube butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
  1. Beat eggs and add about 1/4 cup milk. Add some flour with the salt and sugar; mix.
  2. Add melted butter and more milk. Add rest of the flour and milk; mix well. Wipe griddle with some butter or oil when it is hot. Cook. {Swedish pancakes can be frozen and reheated. Batter can be saved for a day in the fridge – just stir before using.}
  3. For syrup, melt all ingredients in a pot until well mixed. Serve on top of pancake
