Chewy Almond Toffee Bars are a layered twist on the classic magic bars. They are so delicious and easy to make!
If you love almonds you will LOVE Almond Cookies, Easy Candied Almonds, and Cherry Almond Cupcakes. These Almond Toffee Bars are an almond lovers dream!!
a new dessert that we LOVE!!!
These Almond Toffee Bars are so good we had to make it again two days later (no joke!) They are similar to magic bars, but in my opinion, taste a ton better! They are chewy, soft and gooey and are pretty easy to make.
If you’re in the mood for some bars other than Pan Chewies (Cookie Bars) or brownies, then this recipe is the one to try.
If you like the typical Magic Bars, you will definitely love these Almond Toffee Bars. They are a great combination of oats and chocolate and toffee and everything yummy you can imagine. I wasn’t joking when I said we made these two days apart last week – LOL!! And let me tell ya – it was great because last week was stressful and these beauties provided a little comfort. ๐

Recipe Tips
Toffee bits: The easiest is to find already chopped toffee bits in the baking aisle. If your grocery store doesn’t have them, you can chop up a Heath candy bar or Make your own Toffee to chop.
Sweetened condensed milk is not the same as evaporated milk so make sure you buy the right type. If you wish you can make a pretty good substitute a couple of ways:
- One way is to use evaporated milk. Combine 1 ยฝ cups of sugar and 12 ounces of evaporated milk to a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, cook until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is slightly thickened.
- Another way is to use 4 cups of dry powdered milk. Pour 1 cup boiling water into a blender. Add in ยผ cup butter or margarine and 2 cups white sugar. Blend until combined. Add 1 cup powdered milk and blend. Repeat for each remaining cup. Store the mixture in the fridge. 1 โ cup of this homemade mix is equal to 14 oz of canned sweetened condensed milk.
Oats: Old Fashioned Oats and Rolled Oats are the same. Quick Oats are Rolled Oats that have been cut into smaller pieces. They can be used instead of Old Fashioned Oats, but will give a slightly different texture to the bar.
Variations
Easily change up the flavor by simply changing the type of candy chips that you use.
I used milk chocolate chips for this recipe and LOVE it, but you can use:
- white chocolate
- dark chocolate
- peanut butter
- cinnamon chips
Storing Tips
Make these a day or two before your event and still taste great. STORE them in an airtight container. Adding a piece of white bread into the container will help keep them. As long as they remain tightly covered they should be able to last a while. They can be kept at room temperature, or you can refrigerate them.

Thank you Plain Chicken for sharing your recipe!
Is there something that we can substitute for the condensed milk? That is the only ingredient I don’t already have at home, and I want to make these as soon as possible! Thank you for sharing this!
Hi there! Unfortunately, I have never made this recipe without the sweetened condensed milk, so I’m not sure what else you could try. I would definitely wait to make them until you have a chance to buy a can. ๐
Would u keep these in the fridge if making them a day or so ahead? Just made them, they look good, but haven’t cut into em yet;) Thanks!
