This easy peach cobbler recipe is one we’ve made since we were little girls and is so delicious that we are all obsessed.
We love it for so many reasons but especially love that it’s simple and prepped in just 5 minutes. It’s also made with a handful of pantry staple ingredients (including a can of peaches to make it extra easy). It’s as easy as our cake mix peach cobbler, but a little more “homemade”.
Because this cobbler is so buttery, easy and delicious, it’s become a go-to for so many family functions, BBQs and holiday gatherings. It’s the perfect dessert!
Why we think you’ll love it:
- Pantry staples. It’s made with pantry staples, which makes it a go-to! Just add a can of peaches.
- Easy to double. Just make it in a bigger pan – perfect for serving a crowd (or for seconds).
- Perfect all year long. Summer, winter, holidays – it’s always good! No need to wait for peach season when using a can.
Peach Cobbler Ingredients and Substitutions
- 1 (15-ounce) can of peaches – the whole can (do not drain)
- ½ cup butter – we use unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour – see How to Measure Flour
- 1 cup sugar – or replace half the granulated sugar with light brown sugar
- 1 cup milk – at least 2% milk or whole milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- pinch of salt
- ground cinnamon – or sprinkle on ground nutmeg, allspice, or a Pumpkin Pie Spice
How to Make Peach Cobbler
- PREP. Preheat your oven to 350°F and melt the ½ cup butter in a 9×9-inch baking dish in your oven.
- ASSEMBLE. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and a pinch of salt and stir until just combined. Take the pan out of the oven once the butter is melted and pour the batter mixture over it.
- Spoon the canned peaches (with the juice/syrup) over it. Do NOT mix!!
- BAKE. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the crust is golden brown and serve warm. We love to serve it with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and Whipped Cream!
Kristyn’s Peach Cobbler Tips
- USE REAL BUTTER – don’t skip this!! Real butter is what helps give the cobbler that rich, buttery caramelized crust.
- SERVE IT RIGHT – Peach cobbler is amazing on its own, but it’s next level with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream or homemade Whipped Cream. Pure heaven!
- EXTRA CRUNCH – if you want a little extra crunch on that crust, sprinkle a little extra sugar (or even cinnamon sugar) on top before baking.
I want to try this recipe out! I even have all the ingredients but I’m missing is the 9×9 pan. Can I bake this in a pie pan or a 9 in cake ?
Both of those pans (a pie tin or a 9 in cake) would hold less than a 9×9 pan. You might even have better luck just snagging a disposable pan.
Great recipe
Thank you!!
So you melt 1/2 cup of butter in the pan? Then add batter, then fruit? Am I reading that right? Because in my mind, a stick or 1/2 cup of butter is not a cube? Cubes are square and a stick of butter is not.
Please forgive my ignorance, I just want to get it right, I am not a baker. Thanks in advance.
No worries!! Great question. A stick of butter should be the same amount as a cube…. just different ways to say the same thing. But yes, that equates to 1/2 cup. So as long as you use 1/2 cup of butter, you’ll be good!
Thank you for clearing that up for me. Since I have made this recipe twice. I have tried easily a dozen different cobbler recipes including this one, which is a keeper and by far the best. The first try was a peach cobbler which I made 3 small additions. I used 2 15oz cans of peaches and a teaspoon of vanilla in the batter. Once the batter baked above the peaches, I took it out of the oven and covered the top with turbenado sugar mixed with cinnamon. The second one I used a pint and a half of blackberries with a tablespoon of lemon juice and corn starch, also with the turbenado and cinnamon on top & vanilla in the batter. Both were outstanding so thank you for answering my question and for this recipe!
Fresh out of the oven, we loved this! I added two cans of peaches for more peach flavor. I used about 1/2 to 2/3 of the juice. Had to bake for 50 minutes until the top wasn’t squishy when I pressed on it. My 8×8″ pan barely contained the cobbler, but a pan on the rack below caught the butter drips. My husband will be requesting for this forever after!
Thanks for sharing what you did! I’m so glad to hear the cobbler was a hit!
What if someone wants to use frozen peaches? How would that work?
Delicious and so easy. I was skeptical about the recipe but delighted with how easy it was.

I needed a recipe to use up a #10 size of canned peaches and my husband suggested cobbler. I had never made it before but your recipe was so simple and quick it’s foolproof! It turned out beautifully.
It was a generic brand of peaches and I think they were past their prime, so the filling didn’t taste as sweet as we would like it. And I think your recipe definitely calls for enough sugar so I will get more fruit and make again. This will for sure be a go-to when I need a quick dessert. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing what you did! I’m so glad that you enjoyed the cobbler recipe!
Turned out perfect! So easy and so tasty! My husband loved it!!
Yay!! I’m so happy to hear that you all enjoyed the cobbler!
The top of the recipe says cook time 30min but on the instructions is says cook for 38-44min which is it?
I’d say start checking it around 30 minutes… could take a little longer. Or if your oven cooks hot, could be a bit shorter. Every oven is different (and altitude, weather, etc. can affect baking times too), so I’d say start checking around 30 minutes knowing that it could possibly take a little bit longer.
Maybe you should add that to the recipe to be clear about the time. Some people aren’t familiar with when a cakish type of product is done. Toothpick, etc.
Thanks for the feedback!!
