Made from Canned Biscuits!
In my mind there are only a few perks of cold weather, and that includes cute winter clothes and warm foods like soups, breads and donuts!!
This next recipe is for Homemade Biscuit Donuts and let me tell ya, they are DELICIOUS!! The best part is that they’re SO quick and simple because they’re made from canned biscuits. No dough making required!
Not only were they beyond easy to make but the whole family loved them, and they were perfect for a cold day. But, let’s face itโthese biscuit donuts would be great ANY time of the year. ๐
How to Make Donuts with Biscuits
PREP. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan on medium heat.
CUT. Separate biscuits then with a cookie cutter or something similar, cut a hole in the middle to create your doughnut.
FRY. Test heat by frying up a donut hole. You want it to turn golden brown on both sides and also be cooked all the way through. Continue with the donuts and fry until golden brown (a few minutes on each side).
COOL. Let set on a plate with paper towels on it. Let cool a bit and then dip into your favorite topping.
Toppings:
- For a cinnamon sugar taste, dip donut into butter then into a cinnamon/sugar mixture (3 TB sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon).
- For a simple glaze taste, mix powdered sugar, vanilla and milk a little at a time to create a frosting and add sprinkles right after dipping.
You can also pair these biscuit donuts with other dips and sauces:
Biscuit Donut Tips
Donut holes: Donโt toss the donut holes! Simply roll the cut-out middle part into a ball and carefully drop it into the oil. Make sure to flip the donut hole so it fries nice and evenly.
Oil: You can use vegetable or peanut oil to fry these up. Heat your oil on either medium to medium-high for 5 minutes. You know that it is hot enough when it will instantly sear the dough as soon as it hits the oil. If the oil is too cold it will soak up too much oil making it soggy.
Storage: You can store these in an airtight container for 2-3 days at room temperature. You can also individually wrap each biscuit donut and place them together in a freezer Ziploc bag. Store in the freezer for 2-3 months.
Alternate Cooking Methods
Oven: If you would rather bake the biscuit donuts in the oven, you can. Once the biscuits are cut into donuts, bake them at 375 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet for 10-15 minutes. They will be golden brown when they are ready! Bake the donut holes on a separate tray for 8-10 minutes or until cooked and golden.ย
Air Fryer: Another cooking alternative is to use an airfryer. You get a similar fried texture without the added fat from deep frying.
- Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the bottom of the fry basket.
- Spray the paper with non-stick cooking spray. This will keep the dough from sticking to the paper when it needs to be flipped.ย
- Preheat the fryer to 350 degrees F.
- Depending on the size of your fryer you should be able to fit 2 donuts and 2 donut holes in a single layer on top of the parchment paper.
- Cook for 2 to 2.5 minutes then flip and continue to cook for another 2-2.5 minutes until the donut is an even golden brown.
- Repeat this with the rest of your donuts and donut holes
- If your biscuit donut is not golden after about 4-5 minutes then check the temperature setting. Continue to cook, flipping every minute until the golden.

so good and I made them this morning. But I couldn’t seem to get any of them to look nice and golden brown like yours. The one that was cooked all the way through Burnt and ones that did look golden brown were still raw in the middle.
Wow, these look so delicious! I’m supposed to create an at home date tonight for my boyfriend and I was trying to figure out what I can do for dessert. These will be perfect and looks so simple to make! I’m thinking about making it a little more adult friendly by adding some kahlua somewhere in the mix. Thanks so much for the awesome idea!
