We love Disney treats, and if you like Mickey Mouse like we do, be sure to check out our Mickey Oreos and Mickey Beignets.
Quick + Easy Disney Cupcakes
You should know by now that we are ALL about easy recipes… especially if they’re treats.
Today’s recipe happens to be our favorite Disney cupcake because they are beyond simple. You make chocolate cupcakes, and then add frosting to the top and add Oreos for ears. Looks just like Mickey Mouse! The recipe was fun and delicious!
To make it even more simple, I used Betty Crocker’s Black & White Cupcake mix – I used two of them to make 2 dozen cupcakes.
How to Make Mickey Cupcakes
You can make homemade chocolate cupcakes, or even homemade vanilla buttercream frosting but you can make things even more simple by using box mix and canned frosting.
Either way you do it, we do recommend adding some powdered sugar to the frosting if you use the canned version to make it a little more stiff to pipe onto the cupacake. Just add your frosting to a piping bag (I used a 1M Wilton Tip). Add some frosting to the middle and the pipe all around starting at the edge and ending at the top of your initial dollop.
Then, add your Oreos to either side. So simple!
Want to make these in advance? No problem! Store it, unfrosted, in an airtight container for 2-3 days at room temperature, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Frosting can be stored separately in the fridge for 3-4 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months (in an air-tight, freezer-safe container). When ready to have, thaw and give it a good whipping before frosting the cupcake.
Oreos should be stored in their carton until ready to use.

I was wondering where you got the cupcake wrappers from?
where did you find those cupcake wrappers? they’re perfect!
I wish I could remember! I’m guessing Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. I’m sorry, that I can’t remember. They are perfect though 🙂
I found them online at Hobby Lobby: http://www.hobbylobby.com/Party-Baking/Party-Supplies/Treat-Bags-Containers/Red-&-White-Polka-Dots-Nut-&-Party-Cups/p/133361
How did you get the Oreos to stay? Did you use toothpicks?
Nope, they just stuck on there. Hope you give them a try! Thanks for stopping by!
Has anyone tried making these and decorating them a day ahead? Wondering if the Oreos will get really soft?
I haven’t made them that far in advance, but you could definitely make the cupcakes a day a head and wait to frost them the morning of and even add the oreos right before.
Did you bake the cupcakes in the snack cups or place them after baking?
I baked them in the cups 🙂 Hope that helps! Thank you so much for stopping by!!
So many yummy things! i don’t know where to start 🙂 these will be great to try out with fall here in a few weeks 🙂 thanks for the round up!

Did you use regular oreos or the mini ones?
I used the regular ones, but really you could use either 🙂

I prefer cupcakes over cake and these are so clever and super cute!
Any tips for keeping the Oreos on? I was thinking maybe toothpicks, but I’m new to baking so I’m not sure what will and won’t work.
That’s a great idea. The oreos may stick a bit on their own with the frosting, but inserting a toothpick into the cream and then into the cupcake is a great idea!
