Homemade Pizza Seasoning – it’s easy!

Did you know you can make your own pizza seasoning at home?

It’s so handy to have whenever you’re in the mood to have a pizza night – one of our favorite dinner recipes!

Fortunately, you just need a few ingredients and most are probably sitting in your pantry or cabinets now.

Is pizza seasoning the same as Italian seasoning?

Italian seasoning is usually a mix of dried oregano, basil thyme and rosemary. Pizza seasoning usually has the extra ingredients that everyone loves with their pizza, like onions, garlic, fennel and more.

Pizza Seasoning Ingredients

You don’t need much- just a few ingredients! So dig around in you spice drawer/cabinet and look for the following herbs and seasonings:

  • oregano
  • basil
  • dried onion flakes
  • garlic powder
  • thyme
  • fennel
  • paprika
  • ground black pepper

If you don’t have any of those- pick them up during your next grocery trip. You’ll be SO happy you prepared this homemade pizza seasoning in advance.

This also makes a cute gift idea. Package it in a cute little glass container and give it to someone with a jar of pizza sauce or a recipe for pizza crust!

How to Store Pizza Seasoning

You’ll want to store your homemade pizza seasoning sealed in a tight container. Make sure you use herbs and spices that are not close to being expired. This will keep your pizza seasoning last longer on your shelf.

If you’re giving this to someone as a gift- make sure to write the expiration date on it so they know!

If it doesn’t have fennel in it it’s not a pizza seasoning, great job.

How does this pizza seasoning recipe provide 183 kcals per serving and 43 gramsCHO?

      1. Samantha says:

        I wondered this, too!

      2. LilLunaTeam says:

The 183 calories for the pizza seasoning is not for one serving or slice of pizza, but for the whole pizza. I’m so sorry for the confusion! I hope this helps!

  6. Ted says:

How much tomato sauce will i use for this pizza seasoning

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

You would use however much you’d like. This makes more than you would want to add to pizza. Depending on how big the pizza, I use anywhere from a teaspoon to a tablespoon. So, it’s just a personal preference on how much tomato sauce.
