We Love Candied Pecans!
Needing a good holiday snack to munch on? These candied pecans are the ultimate snack for the holidays and way better than anything you find at the store!
Why we love them:
- Simple. These are prepped in minutes with only a handful of ingredients!
- Delicious. These sweet, cinnamony, and crunchy pecans are so addicting.
- Perfect for sharing. I love having a big bowl of these on hand somewhere in my house – they don’t last long! They are also great as neighbor gifts for Christmas.
For gifting, package them up in clear bags and tie them with a bow. So simple!
Ingredients
- sugar
- cinnamon – or use an equal or less amount of nutmeg, cloves, or ginger or use a blend like Pumpkin Pie Spice or apple pie spice. Balance out the sweetness with a bit of cayenne pepper.
- salt
- egg white
- vanilla extract
- pecans halves – This recipe works for nuts such as almonds, walnuts, or cashews. Just replace the 1 pound of pecans with 1 pound of the nut of your choice.
How to Make Candied Pecans
- PREP. Preheat the oven to 250°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- COAT. In a small bowl mix together sugar, cinnamon, and salt
- In a separate medium-sized bowl whisk together the egg white and vanilla until frothy.
- Mix the pecans into the egg froth and then add the cinnamon sugar mixture. Toss until evenly coated.
- BAKE. Evenly spread the coated pecans over the baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour until they are even brown. Be sure to stir them every 15-20 minutes.
Recipe Tips
- Even cook. Toss the pecans every 15-20 minutes during the hour they are baking. This will help them turn an even brown and not burn.
- Serving suggestions. Use candied nuts for snacking, or in the following recipes:
- mix them in yogurt
- add to a fruit bowl
- a topping for Vanilla Ice Cream
- on top of Sweet Potato Pie or Pecan Pie
- include in homemade trail mix
- as a salad topping (they’re especially tasty in Kale Salad)
Storing Info
- STORE your best-candied pecans in airtight containers like plastic Ziploc bags or Tupperware. Keep at room temperature for 2-3 weeks or in the fridge for 3-4 weeks.
- FREEZE. Once cool, place the pecans in a freezer-safe Ziploc and store for up to 2 months. Simple candied pecans thaw out nicely and taste just as fresh as the day you made them.
