We love Chocolate Chips

It’s me, Lily! I love to share simple sweet treats with you. They are easy to make and taste yummy!

I love a good frosted treat, and there are SO many yummy frostings to choose from! This one is extra yum, it’s made with chocolate chips.

Chocolate Chip Frosting is dellllllllllicious! I’m not going to lie I ate all of the frosting and not all of the cupcake, but that’s because the frosting was so good. Chocolate Chips are so good. There were big ones and small ones in our recipe, and no matter which one I had, it was YUMMY.

5 Minute Frosting

CREAM. In a medium bowl, beat butter, cream cheese, and vanilla until well combined.

COMBINE. Add powdered sugar and brown sugar and mix well. Fold in milk chocolate chips.

FINISH! Spread over cake or cupcakes. Top with mini chocolate chips.

If not using immediately, refrigerate and let set at room temp for at least half hour before mixing again and spreading onto your cupcakes/cake.

Variations + Storing Tips

f you are worried about the frosting being grainy you can choose to skip adding the brown sugar and just use powdered sugar instead. If need be you can add a few tablespoons of molasses for that flavor.

Serve chocolate chip frosting on cakes, cupcakes, or spread on some graham crackers.

Variations/Additions:

  • Chocolate chocolate chip frosting (add about a ½ cup of cocoa powder to the frosting)
  • Butterscotch chips
  • Dark chocolate chips
  • Mint chocolate chips

STORE the frosting in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container in the fridge. It may need to soften at room temperature for a little bit before you try to spread it.

FREEZE frosting in a freezer safe bag/container and freezer it for up to 3 months before letting it thaw in the fridge overnight.

This can be made a day or two ahead of time!
