Delicious Cinnamon Cream Cheese Roll-Ups – a simple and yummy breakfast treat. White bread flattened and rolled with a cream cheese and powdered sugar mixture, dipped in butter, cinnamon, and sugar!
We love simple breakfast recipes that also work as a quick and easy snack/treat. If you like these cream cheese roll ups, you’ll definitely want to try Cinnamon Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls, and Cinnamon Twists!
Cinnamon + Cream cheese
I admit that we don’t really have the time to make a good breakfast on weekday mornings. The kids have cereal, toast, yogurt or bagels. Having said that, we try to have breakfast for dinner and especially like to make sweet breakfast dishes on the weekend, and for holidays.
On the weekends, we have all sorts of delicious breakfast recipes that we have come to love (like Cinnamon Rolls and French Toast Bake) and one of those recipes are these Cinnamon Cream Cheese Roll-Ups.
They are a super simple and quick treat that are filled with cream cheese and covered in a crunchy cinnamon and sugar crust. We usually have all the ingredients on hand too, which is nice. Even the kids like to get in the kitchen and help me make them (they’re really that easy!)
How to Make Cream Cheese Roll Ups:
We love that these are easy and that the kids can help make them.
BREAD. To begin these roll ups, cut off the crust of the bread and flatten with a rolling pin.
FILLING. In a small bowl combine cream cheese and powdered sugar until well blended. Spread 1 – 2 tablespoons of cream cheese mixture onto each flattened bread piece and roll up.
CINNAMON SUGAR. In another bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Dip each rolled bread into melted butter and then into the cinnamon/sugar mixture and place on an un-greased cookie sheet.
BAKE. Repeat for the remaining bread pieces and bake at 350 for 16-20 minutes. Serve warm and watch these bad boys disappear in about .2 seconds.
How to store/reheat cream cheese roll ups? Place in a Ziploc bag or air-tight container and put in fridge for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, use the microwave or reheat on low in the oven.
Change it uP!
There are so many ways to change up this recipe to your liking. We will give you some suggestions below, but be sure to comment and let us know what you’d add to these bad boys.
- Add mini chocolate chips to the cream cheese filling
- Add chopped nuts to the cream cheese filling
- Substitute wheat bread for the white (but make sure it is still soft enough to be flattened)
- Add nutmeg or pumpkin spice to the cinnamon sugar coating for more of a fall flavor
- Use different flavors of cream cheese
However you make them, we have a feeling they’re delish!
If you’re looking to try a new breakfast treat then I highly recommend this one. They’re best served warm but can be eaten at any temp. No matter when you eat them, I can promise you that they won’t last long. 😉

Recipe adapted from Fashionable Foodie.
YUM!! I have a feeling my boys will go crazy for these!! Thanks.
Let me know what they think. I think they’ll love them!! My kids definitely do. 🙂
Can u do this on the stove my oven went out
Thank you!!! I too am a cereal everyday Mom. And yes, sometimes I really do feel bad about it. I even have a daughter that refuses to eat cereal in the morning. She would rather eat leftovers than have another bowl of cereal. But with five kiddos as well, it’s just easier. But this recipe I can see us trying out on a Saturday. Sounds so good!!!
i assume it is a large bar (8 oz) of cream cheese?
I make this recipe with won ton skins, and a premade cheesecake. Fry until golden, dip in powdered sugar or roll in sugar and cinnamon mix. Yummy!
Ooooh – your versions sounds amazing!! Can’t wait to try it!
Can these be premade and froze?
I have never froze them before but I would imagine you could. I would just take them out of the freezer a few hours before to unthaw before baking. 😉
Hi Mary, I have been making these for years and yes, they can be frozen. After you roll them in the sugar/cinnamon mixture, place them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, cover with plastic wrap and freezwhen they are completely frozen, place them in a plastic bag, letting as much air out of the bag as possible. When you want to bake them, they can be baked frozen, it may take a few extra minutes to cook, but that’s it. On a cold winter day or when I am in the mood to bake I make a bunch of these and freeze them when I want a snack. They are great when someone stops in unexpected.
Thank you for sharing your expertise!! 😀
Did you cut the crust off the bread?
Thanks for asking, Sandy… I actually did and updated the recipe. 😉
Where did u get thin white bread and what kind of thin white bread did u get
You can find it any grocery store… it’s usually the bread that can be purchased for $.99. You roll the bread to be very thin any way so most white breads should work. 🙂
We really liked these. Had friends over to try them out and by morning all were gone. I tried to make a tad healthier by using wheat bread and dipping in Cocunut oil instead of butter. Thus I felt a little less guilty but the yum was still there!
Coconut oil! You’re a genius! As I was reading this recipe I was trying to think of healthy spins to put on it this, and I’m so happy to know you tried it and loved it! Thanks!
Thanks, your welcome, I kinda surprised myself with that one……..yeah for Cocunut oil 🙂
What size cream cheese? 4 oz. or 8 oz.
Apparently making a nutritious breakfast is not possible? These look great for a treat but scrambled eggs are easy! Sorry, I’m just trying to kick a sugar habit that started as a child…eating cereal for breakfast! I know it’s tough as a mom but something to think about.
We don’t have cereal every morning, but we do most… nothing I’m ashamed about. We do make scrambled eggs, oatmeal, green smoothies and other recipes too, though. 😉
I love this recipe and it’s a great treat for a weekend or holiday when there is a bit more time in the hectic morning routine. Thanks for sharing. But what is with all the judgmental comments above?? C’mon people, she did not ask you to critique or comment on her life, she shared a recipe that she describes as a “special weekend treat”. Robin and Nmg, you both need to lighten up……life’s too short~
I would think the xxx sugar could be left out of the cream cheese filling–so much healthier. And will try it with 100% whole wheat bread.
I had a problem with the temp/time. I was using a commercial grade gas oven so no issue with knowing the temp was correct. When I checked the rolls at the time to pull them out they were not brown and they were still very soft. I had a friend with me who said she had just recently tried the recipe and had to leave it in the oven for 30 minutes before they were done. I ended up turning the oven up to 425 and that worked for the allotted time. Other that that, everyone loved them! There are so many add-ins you can do to this recipe like canned apple pie filling or cherrie. Maybe even some fresh fruit like strawberries or blueberries!
Sorry you had problems with the cook time. I know every oven is different so you just have to work with what you have. I like the idea of apple pie filling or cherry – I’m sure it would make them even more delicious!!
No need to rate a recipe poorly because you don’t like the ingredients. That’s like a vegetarian leaving a 1 star rating on a cheeseburger recipe! Lol. Anyways, this recipe reminds me of an old Mexican recipe. http://www.patismexicantable.com/2012/10/mexican_french_toast_rolls/ Yum!
Thanks for the back up. 😉 We don’t make these often but they’re definitely a treat when we do! 😀
These look fun and I’m sure my grandsons will love them! No worse than making cinnamon toast or toast with cream cheese and jam! Thanks for such a fun new recipe to try!!
Can these be made the night before? I would like to send them to my husband’s office.
sorry, but I don’t understand what’s so difficult about unsweetened oatmeal. It’s easy and takes 2-3min in the microwave or you can make a huge saucepan full in a couple of min. This recipe sounds delicious, but definitely is not breakfast… The only thing that resembles nutrition in it is the cream cheese. Although, it’s still probably better than lucky charms.
Nmg, Why do you keep complaining? If you don’t like the recipe, just leave. Nobody asked for your opinion. Lil Luna is just sharing a recipe her family loves.
These look fantastic I can’t wait to try them. As for the complainers no one asked for your opinion on the recipe if you don’t like it don’t make it otherwise mind your own business
These are awesome! I’ve made these twice now for a friend’s Cinco de Mayo party. I took Susie’s recommendation this time & used coconut oil instead of the butter- they came out great! I used an 8 oz package of cream cheese & also added 1 tsp of vanilla to the filling.
I AM DEFINITELY GONNA TRY THESE RECIPES..MY HUBBY AND I LOVE CINNAMON FLAVORED GOODIES. I WILL MAKE THIS WITH THE GRANDKIDS TOO AND I KNOW THEY WILL LOVE THEM! THANKS FOR SHARING.
LOOKS FANTASTIC! CAN’T WAIT TO TRY THE CINNAMON CREAM CHEESE ROLL UPS!
Wonderful, quick, easy to fix & good to eat!!
Hi, several people asked what size cream cheese bar. Please answer?
It’s 2/3 of an 8 oz. bar. Updated the recipe. 😉
I made these with a few tweaks. I put some vanilla in the cream cheese mixture, used wheat bread, and instead of just butter I dipped them in an egg and milk French toast mixture with a little melted butter as well. Increased the baking time by 5 minutes to make sure the wet bread cooked through. Also, made a puréed strawberry sauce to go on top. It was THE BEST!! Thanks for the recipe!!
WOW!! You’re version sounds amazing. So glad it was a hit! 😀
After seeing this recipe last month, I decided to make a savory version, Croque Monsiuer roll ups using potato bread, slathering with dijon mustard, ham, grueyer cheese and turkey. I wish I had pics because they were gorgeous and the perfect finger food for the party I catered. They went before I could get the camera out with demands for more!
Oh man, those sound AMAZING!! I may have to give them a try. I’m sure they were amazing. Thanks for stopping by. 😉
Have not personally made these yet, but have been looking for easy/fast food to put on our breakfast bar at family reunions. Definitely will be using these.
Hope you guys like them. Thanks for stopping by. 😉
How ’bout some nutrition info on the Cinnamon Cream Cheese Rollups?!! They look great, but I need to know the carb and sugar grams…
Sorry, I don’t calculate the nutrition info for my recipes. 🙁
If you’re looking for less sugar, substitute wheat bread for white, get the carb/sugar info from package. Instead of sugar, use Stevia granules. Try a little less than called for since it can be a little sweeter. I imagine CHOPPED nuts would be a grand ADDITION. Just remember, if it makes you hungry, it’s probably tasty…
Since you had to make them while actually measuring the cream cheese, could you please break that down into the ounces used, not just “2/3” of an 8 ounce brick of cc? Thanks.
5.3 ounces… it’s more of an estimate. I needed more than half the bar but not the whole bar but it just depends on how much cream cheese you like. 😉
Oh my gosh- so I am “fashionably foodie” well I was . Thank you so much for sharing this recipe . Sadly that blog is no longer active anymore, but please follow me @freshfitkitchen on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter . I appreciate the love and hope you will follow the new blog.
Thanks!! Good luck with your blog!! I’ll have to check it out!
They are so good and I totally agree about the cream
I cant believe these are made with regular bread! Not what I expected! lol I cant wait to try them! ANY THING with cream cheese added to it only gets better! Thanks! Shared on Shari’s Crafty Nook! My friends will love it!
I know, crazy, huh? They are so good and I totally agree about the cream cheese! Enjoy!!!
Hi, my sister in law made these as one of her appetizers. OMG! Delicious! They are very similar to Churros. I’m making them this holiday. I’m making double because I know they will go fast! 5 Stars!!
Oh, thanks so much!! That makes me so happy to hear! Thank you for letting me know 🙂
I just finished my 1st batch. Delicious BUT some of them opened up. I followed recipe. Has this happened to you?
I’m glad you thought they were good! Yes, that has happened…I just keep going 🙂 Thank you for giving them a try!
Update: Everyone LOVED them. 2 batches gone. Making more for New Year’s????.
Hooray!!! So glad to hear 🙂 Thanks so much!
Can these be made a day ahead?
I’m sure they could, I haven’t made them early, but I would maybe save the step where you dip them, until you are ready to bake them. Not sure if they would get soggy. Let me know how they turn out! Thank you!
Nice recipe share i definitely make it at home. thanks to share Luna
Thank you so much!! I hope you like them, as much as we do!!
These are in the oven right now and I am so excited! I’m afraid I’m going to eat every single one of them!

Looks so delicious!! Maybe I cannot make it but I like watching these beautiful photos. Thank you for sharing
Thank you! I bet you could make them! Give them a try 🙂
I am making these tonight and felt the softened cream cheese was very skimpy so next time I’ll do the entire bar and I did not put the powdered sugar in with it and I used whole wheat bread. I can’t wait for them to come out of the oven. Get in my Belly!
You could definitely use how much you’d like 🙂 Glad you’re trying them out!! Let me know what you think!
I can’t wait to try these. We tailgate on the weekends and I’m always looking for a make-ahead dish. This will be perfect for breakfast at the campground prior to the big game! I’m going to freeze them as suggested by Angeebabee! Can’t wait to pull them out on a Saturday morning with a big mug of coffee! GEAUX TIGERS!
They’d be perfect for that! Let me know what you all think! Have fun!
I found this recipe flawed. the bread soaked up half my butter and became so soggy I feel that maybe a spray or brushing the butter on would work better. also I made the French Toast version of this and it worked very well. just roll in eggs and fry until golden
these are wonderful I make them a lot everybody eats them fast
So glad to hear that!! I don’t blame them 🙂 Thanks for letting me know that!!
These are called “mini bellinis” and my Meme has been making them for 100 years.???? Family favorite and tradition in our house.
Love that name!! We love these and can see how they’d be a fav!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for sharing its really nice recipe i will make this recipe at my sweet home. thankx for sharing
Oh, thank you!!! I hope you like them!!!

This recipe looks amazing & a super fun treat to make with your kids;) I cant imagine why anyone would make a negative comment or obsess over the calories. I am suprised by all the Negative Nancys out who go out of their way to leave ridiculous comments. Dont make them if your worried about fat & calories & more importantly dont comment. Your recipes are Fabulous, thank you so much for sharing;)
Thank you so much Liss!!! It is fun and yum…hope you like them!!
These look amazing what a great treat. To the complainers no one asked for your opinion on the recipe if you don’t want to make it then don’t. My mother always told me if you had nothing nice to say then say nothing.
Thanks Sue!! They are amazing!
pe if you don’t want to make it then don’t. My mother always told me if you had nothing nice to say then say nothin
My aunt used to make these for Christmas brunch when I was younger, but we don’t do brunch anymore, so I was happy to find this recipe! I would rate it 5 stars, but I didn’t follow it exactly so I better not rate it at all :/. I wanted to make these for just me and my boyfriend this morning, so I didn’t use this recipe’s proportions, I just sort of winged it, using only six pieces of bread and about 4oz/half a bar of cream cheese with about 1/4 c powdered sugar. They had lots of filling… pretty decadent. I forgot to roll out the bread to flatten it- I only realized I hadn’t done it after I had already divided up my cream cheese mixture into blobs on top of each slice of bread… whoops! The un-flatteded bread was kind of tricky to roll up, kind of fragile, but I proceeded with the recipe and they came out yummy anyway. I think this is a pretty forgiving recipe with lots of room for innovation, so it’s still pretty easy to end up with something delicious even if you completely mess up like I did. BONUS TIP: instead of throwing out your bread crusts, toss them in melted butter, roll in cinnamon sugar, and bake them for 10 minutes or so for Cinnamon Toast “Fries”!
What great ideas!! I’m glad you both liked the recipe! Thanks so much for sharing!!
I certainly can say that it is delicious food but what if someone wants to eat it without sugar. Or you can say for dietetic people.
I’m not quite sure what you would substitute. I found a couple articles about healthier sugar substitutes…http://www.eatright.org/resource/food/planning-and-prep/cooking-tips-and-trends/healthy-baking-alternatives and http://www.eatright.org/resource/food/nutrition/dietary-guidelines-and-myplate/sugar-substitutes-how-much-is-too-much. Hope those are helpful 🙂
I just made these with puff pastry ! Will let you know how they turned out
Great…thank you so much!!
Plz, Share more recipe. I have always read all article from here.
Thank you so much!!! Keep checking back 🙂

Thank you for this wonderful recipe. My grandchildren enjoy it as an after school and sometimes an evening t.v. snack. I also have one, that doesn’t like cinnamon so after the bake, she enjoys her with strawberry sauce.
Perfect!! Strawberry is a great choice!! Thanks so much!
Mmmmmm…..yum. This looks totally amazing. I’m just starring at the screen looking at how delicious they look.

Cheese is the thing that always attracts me when it comes to food habits nice recipe thank you for sharing..
LOL! Me too! Let me know if you try them! Thank you!
I’ve made these several times. Very good for quick dessert. Nutella makes a good dip but not many people like the taste. There are any number of dips depending on your individual taste.
Glad you liked them! Thank you for letting me know!
These look great for a treat but scrambled eggs are easy
I have a feeling my boys will go crazy for these!! Thanks.
Oh, man…my kids do!! I hope yours do too!

Hi..these look amazing! I am making them for a get together. I am wondering if they can be baked the night before and just rege
Sorry i hit enter on my computer! Anyway can these be baked the night before and just be reheated the next day? Can they be left out overnight?
They can. I would just keep them in the fridge.
Absolutely to die for!
Did it again but substituted the sugar with Swerve – worked just as well!
Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome! Thank you for sharing!
Love your recipes!!
Awe, thank you so much!! I am so glad you do!
Years ago I made these and brought them to a MOP’S Brunch. Everyone wanted the recipe, they are so good and don’t change anything.
I agree!! No changes necessary! Thank you!
Can this be made ahead and frozen?
I have not tried freezing them, but I would think they’d be ok 🙂
The kids loved helping with this one!
I might try this one with crescent roll dough… I have some I need to use up. =) Looks delish!
Amazing! Kids loved it, very quick and easy! Might try using pumpkin spice bread next time
That would be good!! I will have to try that, too! Thank you!
MAde as directed. Super simple, Elegant enuf for the daintiest finger food OBJECTOR. lol Thanks so much for sharing such a wonderful no fail ! Woke up this morning with my head EMBEDDED on my keyboard. Sheep must of finally caught up to me as I was reading non stop all of your recipes. Great Photo’s! Great site!
Awe, thank you so much!!
such a cute little recipe I think I messed it up though, I had no cinnamon so I used ground nutmeg and pepper it tasted weird I do not recommend.
Uh, oh! Well, I appreciate you trying them! Hope you will try them again with cinnamon!
Lol how can u not recommend a recipe that u didn’t follow correctly?? Ofcourse using nutmeg and pepper is going to taste weird 🙄 it’s not the recipe’s fault only yours.
These are awesome, just dont over cook, man the sugar gets hard. Second batch was on the money. thanks for An awesome sweet treat.
You are so welcome! Yes, you don’t want to over-cook. Thank you for sharing that!
I just made these earlier. sooooo good
Glad you like them 🙂 Thank you!
They are so good and I agree about the cream
I’Ve made these For over 30 years & never feel the need to add powdered sugar to the cream cheese…Decadent enough… matter of taste and so far no complaints!
Thanks for sharing that! That’s what I love about cooking/baking, you can make it your own 🙂
Eileen, have you ever made these and frozen for later?
Can you use crescent rolls instead of bread? If so what changes would have to be made to the baking time?
I personally have not tried, so I can’t say for sure about a time. Maybe start at 10 minutes, then add a min until they are done. Maybe 8-10 minutes.
Can you freeze these
I personally have not tried freezing them, so I can’t say for certain how they hold up. I would try just freezing a couple to see & the rest in the fridge.
These freeze beautifully
Thanks for sharing!!
Really want the cinnamon cream cheese roll ups recipe
It’s there in the recipe box 🙂 Enjoy!!
These are great! Very easy to do and very tasty. We used Nutella in some of them instead of the cream cheese ❤️
Yum! Nutella is a great addition! Thank you for sharing that!
Totally awesome…grandkids want them all the time
Yay!! That makes me so happy! Thank you for letting me know!
Tasted like a churro but better with the cream cheese filling 😋 yummy as is but.. I kinda wanna trip whip cream and strawberry/chocolate drizzle. Saving this recipe i WILL make again. Only issue was some cream cheese oozed out and some of them broke open but I just stuffed back in the goodie back into the roll lol not caring if its pretty or not. Think i need some practice trying to prevent that.
That works 🙂 I am so glad you liked them! Thank you!
Even with mistakes these turn out so good. I’m 82 years old and I get mixed up easy when mixing. Today I inadvertently added the butter to the cream cheese and powdered sugar. I rolled them up anyway and dipped them in another bowl of melted butter, and rolled in the sugar and cinnamon. I thought they would turn out greasy or runny, but they were wonderful with a nice buttery taste which cut the sweetness of the powdered sugar…and they were just as crispy. I thought they might be soggy. Super good. I used honey pecan cream cheese.
Honey pecan cream cheese sounds divine! I’m happy they turned out so well for you! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
These never need to be stored or frozen at my house. They are gobbled up faster than I can make them. Love this recipe. It sits in the front of my recipe box. Thanks for sharing.
Oh that makes me so happy to hear! I’m glad this recipe is a family fav!
Those look so good. I can’t wait to try them.
Let me know how you like them. I’d love to hear!
Well … I was reading several different french toast recipes this morning and I accidentally mixed 2 of them together. I realized it before I actually started the cooking process but it looked like it would be good so I thought why not just wing it. And so far I think that it was a good idea. I made the egg mixture like I would if I were making regular French toast and I went ahead and made the rolls and dip them in the mixture and fry them and then put them in the sugar and cinnamon and now I’m baking them hopefully they’ll be delicious they smell it and look it
Ooh how fun to mash two recipes into one! Sounds delicious and fun. I’d love to hear how they turned out!!
I’m so glad I found this recipe! I used to make these in early 70’s and I’m doing them again for family thanksgiving bfast- all utter recipes use crepes and I knew I used bread- can’t wait to make them again
Yay!! I’m glad you found the recipe too. Hope you enjoy it!!
My nieces enjoyed helping me make this 👌🏽
Oh how fun to make them together!! So glad to hear that!
Hey~ I made these tonight and added some apple pie filling to some, lemon filling to some and made some with just the cream cheese filling. I drizzled some melted chocolate on the cream cheese ones…OMG Sooo delish!! I only got two but will definitely make these again. Thanks for the recipe ✌️
That sounds amazing and SO delicious! Love the idea of using apple pie and lemon filling! I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe. Thanks for sharing what you did!
My daughter and I made these for breakfast this morning. We made half the regular way and in half we added a couple of spoons of cherry preserves to the filling. They were both incredibly delicious but cherry is a favorite in this house so I think those won out. I’m excited to try different ideas.
Also, my genius daughter used the crusts and made some amazing homemade croutons if you’re looking for a way to make use of them.
Thanks for a fun wonderful recipe !
Ooh that’s a great idea to make croutons! Also, the cherry sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing what you did. So glad to hear you all enjoyed the recipe!
Omgoodness guys! This lady has taken time out of her life to share might I say a awesome recipe. Lighten up! Too much sugar, carb counts, not good for breakfast. If this recipe doesn’t work for you then don’t use it and keep moving. Don’t stop and leave a crappy negative comment that doesn’t have anything to do with that actual rating of her recipe. I’m sure you guys are fun to hang out with and I would cringe if I had to bring a dish to your home. Sorry I jumped in the flesh for a minute but Debbie downers really get under my skin. Your recipe was awesome😘
This is so easy and my husband loves them !! 😍
Yay!! So so glad to hear that!
These freeze really well. I would put them on a cookie sheet in the freezer, when frozen I’d put them in a ziploc bag. Make as few or as many as you want ….. just have to add a minute or two to the baking time.
Thanks for sharing! So glad you enjoyed the roll ups!
Do you freeze them before or after baking?
I was given this recipe many years ago. The difference however is that instead of powdered sugar my recipe calls for a stick of butter. We cut them into bite-size pieces and put them in the freezer. I have never baked them. We just eat them cold from the freezer and they are delicious. I also do not use the egg white.
Can I substitute the bread with a white flour tortilla
You could try! The texture and flavor will be a little different but it may still work. You’ll have to let us know how it turns out if you use a tortilla instead.
Perfect Christmas morning light breakfast esp. with a cream cheese icing ‘dip’…….big hit!
Could you add mini chocolate chips to the filling? Or would they burn?
You definitely could! It would be delicious!
They are and they are sooo good!! Thanks for stopping by!!
Great!! I hope you enjoy them, as much as we do!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Yay!! That makes me so happy to hear. Thank you so much for trying them!
I’m glad she likes them 🙂 Thank so much for stopping by!
I’m glad they did 🙂 Thanks so much!
