Cinnamon + Cream cheese

I admit that we don’t really have the time to make a good breakfast on weekday mornings. The kids have cereal, toast, yogurt or bagels. Having said that, we try to have breakfast for dinner and especially like to make sweet breakfast dishes on the weekend, and for holidays.

On the weekends, we have all sorts of delicious breakfast recipes that we have come to love (like Cinnamon Rolls and French Toast Bake) and one of those recipes are these Cinnamon Cream Cheese Roll-Ups.

They are a super simple and quick treat that are filled with cream cheese and covered in a crunchy cinnamon and sugar crust. We usually have all the ingredients on hand too, which is nice. Even the kids like to get in the kitchen and help me make them (they’re really that easy!)

How to Make Cream Cheese Roll Ups:

We love that these are easy and that the kids can help make them.

BREAD. To begin these roll ups, cut off the crust of the bread and flatten with a rolling pin.

FILLING. In a small bowl combine cream cheese and powdered sugar until well blended. Spread 1 – 2 tablespoons of cream cheese mixture onto each flattened bread piece and roll up.

CINNAMON SUGAR. In another bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Dip each rolled bread into melted butter and then into the cinnamon/sugar mixture and place on an un-greased cookie sheet.

BAKE. Repeat for the remaining bread pieces and bake at 350 for 16-20 minutes. Serve warm and watch these bad boys disappear in about .2 seconds.

How to store/reheat cream cheese roll ups?ย Place in a Ziploc bag or air-tight container and put in fridge for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, use the microwave or reheat on low in the oven.

Change it uP!

There are so many ways to change up this recipe to your liking. We will give you some suggestions below, but be sure to comment and let us know what you’d add to these bad boys.

  • Add mini chocolate chips to the cream cheese filling
  • Add chopped nuts to the cream cheese filling
  • Substitute wheat bread for the white (but make sure it is still soft enough to be flattened)
  • Add nutmeg or pumpkin spice to the cinnamon sugar coating for more of a fall flavor
  • Use different flavors of cream cheese

However you make them, we have a feeling they’re delish!

If you’re looking to try a new breakfast treat then I highly recommend this one. They’re best served warm but can be eaten at any temp. No matter when you eat them, I can promise you that they won’t last long. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Omgoodness guys! This lady has taken time out of her life to share might I say a awesome recipe. Lighten up! Too much sugar, carb counts, not good for breakfast. If this recipe doesnโ€™t work for you then donโ€™t use it and keep moving. Donโ€™t stop and leave a crappy negative comment that doesnโ€™t have anything to do with that actual rating of her recipe. Iโ€™m sure you guys are fun to hang out with and I would cringe if I had to bring a dish to your home. Sorry I jumped in the flesh for a minute but Debbie downers really get under my skin. Your recipe was awesome๐Ÿ˜˜

My daughter and I made these for breakfast this morning. We made half the regular way and in half we added a couple of spoons of cherry preserves to the filling. They were both incredibly delicious but cherry is a favorite in this house so I think those won out. Iโ€™m excited to try different ideas.

Also, my genius daughter used the crusts and made some amazing homemade croutons if youโ€™re looking for a way to make use of them.

Thanks for a fun wonderful recipe !

Well … I was reading several different french toast recipes this morning and I accidentally mixed 2 of them together. I realized it before I actually started the cooking process but it looked like it would be good so I thought why not just wing it. And so far I think that it was a good idea. I made the egg mixture like I would if I were making regular French toast and I went ahead and made the rolls and dip them in the mixture and fry them and then put them in the sugar and cinnamon and now I’m baking them hopefully they’ll be delicious they smell it and look it

    1. Lil'Luna Team says:

Ooh how fun to mash two recipes into one! Sounds delicious and fun. I’d love to hear how they turned out!!

Even with mistakes these turn out so good. I’m 82 years old and I get mixed up easy when mixing. Today I inadvertently added the butter to the cream cheese and powdered sugar. I rolled them up anyway and dipped them in another bowl of melted butter, and rolled in the sugar and cinnamon. I thought they would turn out greasy or runny, but they were wonderful with a nice buttery taste which cut the sweetness of the powdered sugar…and they were just as crispy. I thought they might be soggy. Super good. I used honey pecan cream cheese.

    1. LilLunaTeam says:

Honey pecan cream cheese sounds divine! I’m happy they turned out so well for you! Thanks so much for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

These never need to be stored or frozen at my house. They are gobbled up faster than I can make them. Love this recipe. It sits in the front of my recipe box. Thanks for sharing.

Tasted like a churro but better with the cream cheese filling ๐Ÿ˜‹ yummy as is but.. I kinda wanna trip whip cream and strawberry/chocolate drizzle. Saving this recipe i WILL make again. Only issue was some cream cheese oozed out and some of them broke open but I just stuffed back in the goodie back into the roll lol not caring if its pretty or not. Think i need some practice trying to prevent that.

    1. Kristyn Merkley says:

That works ๐Ÿ™‚ I am so glad you liked them! Thank you!
