These Magical Cookie Bars are a simple dessert idea with a cookie base topped with chocolate and butterscotch chips, coconut, and sweetened condensed milk!

This might be our new favorite bar dessert! They are favorites along with our classic Cookie Bars and Sugar Cookie Bars.

Tastes Like a Million Bucks!

If you have a major sweet tooth, this next dessert recipe is for you. It’s called Magic Cookie Bars, and let me tell you… It has become a new favorite around these parts!

It’s a layered bar dessert with a chocolate chip cookie base, layers of chocolate and butterscotch chips, coconut, and sweetened condensed milk which gives it that gooey, delicious taste that is irresistible.

The reason I love it so much is because it’s so simple and tastes like a million bucks. In fact, I made it for a Pizza Night at the park we planned a while ago and I had several people asking for the recipe. So go on, give it a shot! You’ll be glad you did.

Ingredients for Magic Cookie Bar recipe layered in a baking dish
  1. PREP. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. COOKIE CRUST. In a large bowl mix cookie mix, butter and eggs until well combined and dough forms. Press into the bottom of a greased 13×9 pan. Bake for 14-16 minutes.
  3. LAYER. Once done baking, sprinkle butterscotch chips over the cookie layer, along with milk chocolate chips and coconut. Drizzle sweetened condensed milk over the top.*
    • *Caution: Be cautious that you do not accidently use evaporated milk instead of sweetened condensed milk. The two are quite different and your dessert will not turn out.
  4. BAKE. Bake for 25-30 minutes longer or until golden brown. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

Mix it up: Everyone makes their magic bars slightly different, so feel free to switch up what you put in there. You can use white chocolate chips, toffee, cinnamon, walnuts, almonds, graham cracker crumbs. Whatever you feel will make these cookies MAGICAL!

You could even make it a millionaire magic bar, which is a crossbreed between a millionaire bar and magic bar. Use a shortbread crust instead of chocolate chip cookie crust and then add all the layers from the magic cookie bar recipe.

Storage Tips

These don’t need to be STORED in the fridge unless you really want to. They should be fine in an airtight container for about 3-5 days. If they are in the fridge they can last up to a week.

You can also FREEZE them! They make really great treats for lunch boxes or a great treat for mom and dad after kids have gone to bed (shhh!) Make sure that you let them cool completely. Wrap each bar with plastic wrap and place them together in an air-tight bag in the freezer.

They should be good for up to 3-4 months. Just let them thaw for about 30 min-1 hour before eating.
