Why We Love Them!

We’ve already established that chocolate + peanut butter is a flavor match made in Heaven.

If you need proof, look no further than our Buckeye Brownies or today’s Peanut Butter Balls recipe that we love so much (and make every Christmas!)

Here’s why we love them:

  • Quick. The prep is quick, they just need to chill!
  • Simple. There are ONLY 4 ingredients, and they’re easy to make.
  • Perfect for gifting. They are great for gifting and for adding to cookie plates for the holidays.

If you love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, I think you’ll love these treats too!

Just 4 Ingredients!

  • peanut butter Use regular creamy or crunchy peanut butter. Natural peanut butter has a different consistency and does not work as well.
  • butter – We use unsalted but salted butter works as well.
  • powdered sugar
  • chocolate candy coating Candy coating is different from simply melting chocolate and almond bark. Use any of the types of coating just be sure to follow the package directions to melt it properly. Try colored candy coating too!
  • Sprinkles (optional) Have fun with colorful or holiday sprinkles.

How to Make Peanut Butter Balls

  1. PEANUT BUTTER. Combine peanut butter, butter, and sugar in a large mixing bowl and stir until dough forms.
  2. SHAPE + CHILL. Shape the peanut butter mixture into 1-inch balls (using a cookie scoop to scoop first helps) and place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. CHOCOLATE. When done chilling, melt candy coating until smooth and dip balls coating with candy until smooth and all over. Place back on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet, sprinkle with sprinkles, and chill for an additional 15-20 minutes.

Recipe Tips

  • Dipping. Using a homemade double boiler keeps the coating melted without worrying it will burn. If you start to run low, simply add more chocolate to the bowl.
  • Dipping tools. Stick a toothpick into the balls before chilling. Dip in chocolate and remove the toothpick for the final chill.
  • Candy foot. To remove the excess chocolate:
    • While the chocolate is still warm use a utensil to cut and drag the excess chocolate away from the PB balls.
  • Drizzle. Add a drizzle to set PB balls. Use the same brown candy coating or a different color. Melt the coating then use a spoon to drizzle or put the melted coating in a piping bag with a small tip.
