A Fair Favorite!

I know people have their favorite “kinds” of Oreos. Still, everyone loves them – from Double Stuf Oreos to special White Chocolate Covered Oreos you get around the holidays, they’re everyone’s favorite cookie!

We have them in so many of our top desserts like Dirt Cake and Oreo Cheesecake. Today, we take Oreos to a whole new level – deep fried Oreos.

You may have tried them at your local fair, carnival, or rodeo, but today I’m showing you how to make them at home. I must warn that they are so incredibly easy to make and so stinkin’ delicious at the same time.

If you’re looking for a fun and unique treat to make at your next party, these fried Oreos will be a hit. Trust me!

How to Make Fried Oreos

We make so many desserts with Oreos that we typically have them on hand. Making the actual deep fried Oreos takes just a few steps.

PREP. Heat oil in fryer to 375°F.

BATTER. In a medium bowl, whisk oil egg, and milk together. Stir in pancake mix and mix until there are no more clumps.

FRY. Dip Oreos in batter with a fork and then place in hot oil. Fry until golden brown (it took about 2 minutes).

DRAIN. Place Oreos on a paper towel-lined plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and ENJOY!

We don’t make this deep-fried Oreo recipe often but when we do, they are definitely a hit!

Recipe Tips

This fried Oreos recipe can be made using any flavor Oreo cookie! For other alternatives:

Oil. Peanut, canola, or vegetable oil can be used to make this treat.

Batter alternative. Use canned refrigerated biscuits wrapped around each Oreo instead of dipping them in the batter. You can then fry them in oil or use an air fryer.

Oreo flavors. Pair flavored Oreos with a similarly flavored frosting:

  • Mint Oreos with a chocolate mint drizzle.
  • Peanut Butter Oreos with a peanut butter dip.
  • Gluten-free Oreos with gluten-free pancake mix. (Everything else in the recipe remains the same.)

storing info

STORE. Easy fried Oreos are best served shortly after frying them. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days. Reheat them in a toaster oven or an air fryer.

REHEAT. We recommend not reheating this best fried Oreo recipe because it’s hard to do with fried food. Instead, we’d say whip up a new batch because they’re easy and quick.

Recipe FAQ

Can I deep fry Oreos without a deep fryer?

Yes, even though I typically use my deep fryer to make fried Oreos, you can make them in a heavy pan with tall sides. Just add at least 2 inches of oil to the pan and fry until golden brown.

Why did my batter drip off the Oreo?

Be sure to not make pancake batter and then add the recipe ingredients. You will only use the dry pancake mix to combine with the recipe ingredients otherwise the batter will be much too thin.

How do I serve deep fried Oreos?

These can be eaten alone or alongside a scoop of ice cream. You can also provide different dips like chocolate or caramel sauce.
