Fajita Seasoning is a perfect blend of spices to create mouth-watering fajitas and other delicious dishes with just the right amount of heat!!

A homemade mix of Fajita Seasoning is perfect for your Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas or Fajita Chili. Once you make your own seasoning, you’ll never go back to store-bought! And that’s true of homemade Taco Seasoning, too!

If you love fajita night like I do, you will love whipping up your very own Homemade Fajita Seasoning blend and slathering it on your meat of choice. Whether steak or chicken, this blend is perfection!

And the best part is: it only requires a handful of ingredients you probably already have in your pantry! Skip the typical seasoning packet and make your own from scratch!

Now all you need is a stack of fresh tortillas and your favorite toppings. I love to grill my meat up with a handful of bell peppers. My favorite toppings to dice up are avocados, tomatoes, fresh cilantro, and of course some shredded cheese and salsa.

This seasoning is not just for fajitas. It’s a delish spice to use on any meat for a tasty Mexican flavor!!

How to make fajita seasoning

You might be wondering…

“What is in fajita seasoning?” It’s actually made from a handful of ingredients you probably already have on hand!:

  • corn starch
  • chili powder
  • salt
  • paprika
  • sugar
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • cayenne pepper
  • cumin

JUST COMBINE! Whisk together all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Stir in an airtight container until ready to use.

This recipe can be doubled or tripled to make a larger batch to store for future use.

Tips + Variations

Not Just for Fajitas: This seasoning is great to flavor many other dishes.

  • You can use it as a dry rub for beef, pork and poultry
  • Use it to season things roasted veggies or corn on the cob.
  • Sprinkle it over  baked potatoes or sweet potatoes.
  • Mix it in with refried beans, balck beans and rice.
  • Season your scrambled eggs.

Variations: One of the great things about making your own seasoning blend is you can adjust it to your preference. I really love how this recipe turned out, but you can increase or decrease any of the ingredients. I’ve seen some signature recipes include anything from chipotle powder to a dash of cocoa powder.  Unleash your inner creativity.

Storing info

STORE fajita seasoning up to 6 months stored in a dry place. It’s best stored in a glass jar, but any airtight container will do.

We like to triple this recipe to have leftovers to store to use when needed. It takes meats to a whole new level!
