Tips + Variations

BUTTER: When you use softened butter and cream it, it creates air pockets that will transfer to actually baking the cookies. If you melt the butter it doesnโ€™t give as much as a leavening effect, which is fine for other baked goods, but not cookies.

CRUSHED CANDIES: When you end up putting the candy in the mixer they get crushed up anyway, but there is another reason for this method. By crushing the candies you distribute more of the flavor, color, and crunch.

You can still put whole ones on top to get that bite into the candy, but the small pieces get the flavor all the way through the cookie. This is especially helpful when youโ€™re working with a chocolate chip batter instead of a peanut butter one.

Change it up:

  • Use different cookie bases: sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies, or chocolate.
  • Add both Reeses pieces and peanut butter cups. Or even do ยฝ chocolate chips and ยฝ peanut butter chips.
  • For more chocolate and less peanut butter, swap out the peanut butter chips for semi sweet or milk chocolate chips.

How to Store

Make the dough ahead of time and STORE it in the fridge or freezer.

  • Fridge: Roll the dough in a log and wrap it tightly with plastic wrap. Keep in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Freezer: you can freeze the dough in log form (wrap with plastic then skin with aluminum foil) or you can form dough balls. If youโ€™re forming dough bake youโ€™ll want to flash freeze them on a baking sheet belt transferring them to a freezer Ziploc. Freeze dough for up to 3 months. Allow dough to thaw a bit before baking.

STORE cooled Reese’s Pieces cookies in an airtight container for 4-5 days. Stick a piece of white bread in the container to help keep the cookies soft and chewy. You can also FREEZE the baked cookies for up to 3 months.

Delicious! Only note is I had to cook them about 11 minutes. At 8 minutes they were quite raw. No biggie. Huge hit with the family. I added a handful of chocolate chunks in the mix since we love extra chocolate in my family.

I found your Fall Cookie Jar Gift recently and could navigate to the page where you had the printable and how to assemble the jars. But now I can not get back to it ๐Ÿ™ Could you share the printable with me, or just what the printable says under the What You Need Section?? Thanks!

Making it, easy and clear recipe, but two trays in the oven are taking well over 8 minutes in a preheated 350ยฐ oven
    House smells great!!

This was an excellent recipe! Very simple ingredients, and the result was exactly what I was looking forโ€”a soft chewy cookie with Reeceโ€™s pieces! I think this might be my new cookie recipe that I just adapt the add-ins to change it up!

This is my family’s FAVORITE cookie recipe. We make them with Reese’s, without reese’s as a regular chocolate chip, and even without add-ins just as a plain cookie. They are AMAZING. The texture and flavor is simply the best ๐Ÿ™‚
