Strawberry Oat Smoothie

I love me a good smoothie! Who’s with me? One of the grandkids’ favorite thing to do at Grandmas and Papas is to make ice cream smoothies. They are crazy about them! We even try to throw in some healthy ingredients every now and again. With healthier goals in mind for the new year, we’ve found several great smoothie recipes we’ll be sharing with you over the coming months that I think you’re going to love. The first recipe is a strawberry smoothie with oatmeal that is so hearty and delicious, that we’ve already made it a few times in the last month.

If your kids are anything like mine, they love all things strawberry, especially strawberry smoothies. With oats in it, we weren’t sure how much the kids would love this, but they devoured this smoothie. Not only was it tasty, but it was simple to put together and was so refreshing!

This recipe calls for skim milk, rolled outs, bananas, frozen strawberries and a little bit of sugar and vanilla. Fortunately, we almost always have these ingredients on hand, so I have a feeling we will be making it more often.

A simple and delicious Strawberry Smoothie recipe – filled with oats, banana, strawberries and milk!

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1 banana broken into chunks
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white sugar


  • Use a blender to grind up oats.
  • Add milk, oats, bananas and strawberries, blend well.
  • Add vanilla and sugar if desired. Blend until smooth.
  • Serve cold
