Easy Crockpot Side dish
Today’s recipe is another we’ve made for years – Crockpot Green Beans with Bacon. They’re a classic side dish to any meal and have become one of our favorite ways to serve the veggies (along with green bean bundles and green bean casserole).
One of the main reasons everyone loves this vegetable side is because it’s made with bacon. And we all know that recipes with bacon are almost always amazing.
Because this is made in the slow cooker, it literally takes just a few minutes to throw together and JUST a few ingredients. Here is what you’ll need for this recipe:
- frozen green beans
- bacon
- water
- salt & pepper
So simple and perfect for any meal, but especially during the holiday season.
Recipe notes and tips
These green beans with bacon are so simple to make in the slow cooker. Here are some things we wanted to make note of for this simple recipe.
Can you use fresh green beans? Yes, you can!! They may just need to be trimmed first and cut depending on the size. I use about 1.5 pounds and wash them first. The cooking time will be the same.
Can you make this on the stove? Just add all the ingredients to a large pot. Bring to a boil and then turn down heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
Turkey bacon or smoked turkey work great in the place of the pork bacon if you prefer something different. You can bake it in the oven instead of cooking it on the stovetop!
How to store and reheat leftovers: Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the microwave in 30 second intervals. If you would like to use the leftovers in another meal you can easily add them to these recipes

I made this and it was very easy and tasty. I needed to add about a 1/2 -1 cup of water. I will make this again.
To double or triple the recipe, how much longer would it take to cook in a crockpot?
I’m not exactly sure. I think that it should take about the same amount of time, but you can always bump the heat to high to cook faster. I’d keep an eye on the beans and if they are still looking frozen/not warmed through, then obviously leave them in longer.
is this 2 – 12 ounce packages or 12 ounces total
2 12 ounces, so 24 ounces total ๐ Enjoy!
CN this recipe be doubled?
It sure can ๐ Enjoy!!
Can i use fresh green beans instead of frozen? Will the cook time be different?
It might be a little less ๐ Just keep an eye out.
I made the modification to cook with 4 oz butter in the crock pot and gave people the option of French Fried onions and / or toasted slivered almonds or both.
I had a professional cook at the dinner who insisted that i give him the recipe.
Wow..that’s a compliment!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with others!
Robert P. Starbuck, when do you add the butter, toasted slivered almonds and/or French fried onion rings? After the beans are fully cooked? Thank you!
Luna, what is the package of green bean size, 8 oz????
I think mine were 12 ounces, but you could use a smaller package..it won’t make too much of a difference ๐ ENJOY!
