Broccoli Slaw – a simple and quick salad and side dish recipe that is perfect for your next get together.
We got this recipe from our sister in law’s Mom, Kathy, who is an excellent cook and passed on her skills to her daughter. It’s kind of a criteria to get into this family. 😉 Each of our brothers have married wonderful gals who all happen to be awesome in the kitchen. Just one of the many reasons we love them!
This Broccoli Slaw is AH-MAZING! It has so many tasty ingredients that we love, and it really takes just minutes to throw together, which makes it perfect for parties and barbecues when you need to take a last minute dish. I think this will be a new potluck favorite!
Tips and add-ins
Can I make the broccoli slaw from scratch? I like to use the packaged slaw just because it is so easy to grab at the store. However, you can definitely make your own slaw. All you will need to do is use a cheese grater to grate broccoli stems and carrots, then add sliced red cabbage.
How do you store broccoli slaw? Leftover slaw can be placed in an airtight container and can be refrigerated for up to 5 days. Keep in mind the raman noodles will take on moisture and become softer with time. Just toss in a handful of new noodles to add the crunch back in.
What other add ins can I use? We love this basic salad as is. However, the nice thing about salad is that it is so easy to customize. Try adding dried cranberries, sliced olives, julienned red apples, bacon bits, grilled chicken, pumpkin seeds to change things up.
Can I make this ahead of time? You can prepare all the ingredients 1-2 days beforehand. Store them in separate containers and toss right before serving.

Broccoli Slaw Recipe
- 2 packages broccoli slaw
- 1 bunch green onions sliced
- 2-3 oz Oriental Ramen noodles
- 1 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 cup peanuts
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- Mix together slaw, green onions and crushed ramen noodles,
- Whisk together sugar, vinegar, oil and seasoning packets from noodles.
- Pour over slaw mixture. Refrigerate to soften noodles. Add nuts and seeds just before serving.
