This M&M Brownie Recipe is everything you want in a dessert: rich, fudgy, chocolate packed, and loaded with colorful candy in every bite.

With a buttery base, deep cocoa flavor, and melty chocolate chips, these brownies stay soft and chewy while the M&Mโ€™s add just the right amount of crunch and fun. We are ALL fans of M&M filled treats at this house. They are a regularly requested brownie.

If brownies are your love language, you will also want to try Nutella Brownies, Easy Fudgy Brownies, Brookies, and Buckeye Brownies.

Why we think you’ll love it:

  • All things chocolate. These brownies are ultra fudgy and rich, perfect for serious chocolate lovers.
  • Packed with M&Ms! The mix of regular and mini M&Ms makes every bite colorful and fun for kids. Our kids also love M&M Cookies, M&M Cookie Cake, and M&M Cookie Bars.
  • Perfect for sharing. One pan makes plenty, which is great for parties, potlucks, and school events. They also store well and taste just as great the next day.
  • Simple steps. The recipe is straightforward and reliable, even for beginner bakers.

M&M Brownie Ingredients

  • Butter (1 cup, melted and cooled) – provides rich flavor and creates that classic fudgy brownie texture.
  • Vegetable oil (2 tablespoons) – adds extra moisture to keep the brownies soft and tender.
  • Sugar (1 1/4 cups) – sweetens the brownies and helps create a shiny, crackly top.
  • Brown sugar (1 cup, packed) – adds moisture and a deeper, caramel like sweetness.
  • Eggs (4, room temperature) – give structure and richness while helping the brownies bake evenly.
  • Vanilla extract (1 tablespoon) – enhances the chocolate flavor and adds warmth.
  • All purpose flour (1 cup) – provides just enough structure without making the brownies cakey.
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (1 cup) – delivers deep, bold chocolate flavor.
  • Salt (3/4 teaspoon) – balances the sweetness and intensifies the chocolate taste.
  • Baking powder (1/2 teaspoon) – gives a slight lift so the brownies are fudgy but not dense.
  • Chocolate chips (1/2 cup) – melt into the batter for extra chocolate pockets throughout.
  • Regular M&Mโ€™s (1/2 cup) – add crunch, color, and a classic candy coated chocolate bite.
  • Mini M&Mโ€™s (1/2 cup) – distribute more evenly, ensuring chocolate in every square.

Use a plastic knife to cut the M&M fudge brownies. It’ll slice right through them.

Kristyn’s Recipe Tips

  • Make sure the melted butter has cooled slightly so it does not scramble the eggs.
  • Whisking the eggs and sugar well helps create a shiny brownie top.
  • Do not overmix after adding the dry ingredients to keep the brownies fudgy.
  • A plastic knife really does make cutting cleaner and easier! It’s my secret weapon.
  • We used a metal pan to bake the brownies. If using a glass or ceramic dish, you may need to add a few extra minutes to the bake time since those dishes tend to heat up and distribute heat a little differently than metal pans.
