Beach Treats!
Hi, it’s me Lily!! Do you know in Texas there was a beach I LOVED called Surfside Beach. It’s really fun. They have amazing waves, and you can even rent a house there and stay right on the beach. Right before we left Texas, we went one last time with my aunt and cousin. Turns out they just added picnic tables which was perfect because we came there for lunch.
Me, Gavin, Evie and my cousin, Hannah, went out in the ocean and tried to jump over the waves and ride on them. We even got into little ditches that made it look like we were so far out.
Speaking of beaches, we made this recipe awhile back for Sand Pudding Cups. It was inspired by the Dirt Cake Parfaits we made last year. This time we used Golden Oreos and added an umbrella on top to make it look like the beach. We brought the left over Golden Oreos from this recipe to the beach and had them the last time we went there in Texas. I love these Pudding Cups so much – I think your kids would love them too. In fact, you should make them and bring them to the beach – LOL!!
Making SAnd Cups
OREO. Begin by smashing up Oreos. I put mine in my food processor and blended until they were crumbs. Set aside.
PUDDING. Mix cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar with mixer in a medium bowl. Fold in cool whip until well blended. In a separate bowl mix pudding mix and milk with a whisk. Once combined well, add pudding to cream cheese mixture.
LAYER + GARNISH. Place a few tablespoons of Oreo crumbs in your cup or small jar. Add some of the creamy mixture (I do this by adding the creamy mixture to a gallon bag and cutting off the corner so it goes in the jar more easily.) Bang down on a wash cloth on the table to get all bubbles out. Add a few more tablespoons of Oreo Crumbs. Top off with some more cream mixture and sprinkle on a few more crumbs. Top off with more crumbs and a drink umbrella.
SERVE. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Tips + Variations
Do not remove the cream filling from the Oreos
Add a couple of dark Oreos to the food processor to give a speckled sand look.
Vanilla wafers will work instead of golden Oreos
Not only can you have fun with the serving container, but you can also have fun with your toppings. As mentioned, I used a simple umbrella, but other fun toppings you could include:
- Swedish fish
- Gumballs aka beach ball ;o)
- Edible sea shells
- Teddy Grahams with
- Gummy lifesaver
- Fruit by the Foot towel
I love being able to see the layers of this dessert so I divided it into 8 oz plastic cups. This is a perfect size for individual servings. I think I was able to get 15 cups give or take a few depending on how full you make them.
I have also seen this dessert served in mini sand pails found at hobby lobby, amazon and oriental trading. You can even use a large sand pail and have a sand shovel for guests to scoop out their own serving. This seriously is such a fun treat!

How many parfait cups does this recipe make?
Did you use the smaller or largest box of instant pudding? And how many parfaits were you able to make using cups that size?
Can you tell me approximately how many servings it makes in the small cups or whatever you used? I can’t find where it says that above. Thanks!
It doesn’t say. I can’t remember an exact amount. It should make quite a few…10-20, depending on how full you make them. I hope that helps!!
Yikes nutrition info 1004 calories per serving?
Could these be made the night before?
Yes 😉 Enjoy!
What type of plastic cups did you use?!?! How many ounces do the cups hold??? Or where do you buy the cups from?! Thanks in advance!!!
You could really use any type. I can’t remember where I got those specific ones or how much they hold, but you could find them pretty much anywhere…grocery store, walmart, party city. Hope that helps 🙂
How far ahead of time can these be made? Like, how long can these be in the fridge before the cookie part starts getting soft?
Do you crush the entire oreo, including the filling? Thanks!
Yes, you crush the entire cookie 🙂 Hope you like these!
Love any recipe with Golden Oreos in them! Thank you!!
Just wondering if you can Tell me if this recipe makes enough for me to put it into an 8×8 or 9×13 instead of cups? Thank you!
It’s been so long, but I think it would be enough for an 8×8. Hope you like it!
This might be my kids’ new favorite dessert. They have asked me to make it at least five times a day for the past week.
Yum – delicious and so fun! We made these for our pool party last weekend, they were a hit!
How fun are these!! Perfect for summer, for parties, any time really! They taste so good!
Such a cutie and yummy way to serve dessert. The kids will love them!
These are so fun & tasty!! Such a yummy summer treat 🙂
The cream layer is delicious. I also loved the idea to use a sun bathing teddy graham. Fun summer treat!
Do you leave the crème centers in the cookies when you put them in the food processor?
