The combination of mint chocolate chip ice cream and Oreos makes this mint milkshake a delicious treat! Whip it up in only minutes.
You can’t go wrong with this mint Oreo shake! Cake Batter Milkshake, Red Velvet Milkshake, and Pudding Milkshake are some more of our favorite cool treats.
Who Doesn’t Love Milkshakes?!
Since we’re HUGE mint fans at our home we love these mint milkshakes!
Of course, this dessert were a huge hit with the family, and they’re already asking me to make them again.
Why we love them:
- Quick and easy. There are only 3 ingredients (minus the toppings), and this is ready in only 5 minutes! It’s a great dessert for kids to make.
- All year long. This is a quick treat that could be made for St. Patrick’s Day but is delicious any day.
- Dress them up! Embellish them with green sprinkles and Whipped Cream to make them extra festive.
HOW TO MAKE mint Oreo shakes
All you need is milk (we use whole milk), Oreos and Mint Ice Cream (we use Mint Chocolate Chip).
- BLEND. Pour the milk into the blender then add the ice cream and Oreos. Mix until well blended.
- SERVE. Top with whipped cream and crushed Oreos if desired. Or add Chocolate Syrup and sprinkles.
Make a milkshake without a blender
- Hand mixer. Add all the ingredients (except the ice) to a bowl and mix it all with a hand mixer or a whisk. Crush the Oreos first and add a little extra milk if needed, so it blends easily.
- Shake it up. Make it with a glass that has a tight-fitting lid. Add all the ingredients to the glass (except ice and crushing the Oreos first) and screw the lid on tight. Shake vigorously until it is mixed well. Stir in crushed Oreos.
Recipe Tips
- Color. Blending the Oreos with the ice cream does give a grey-tinted hue. If desired, blend everything up without the Oreos. Chop the Oreos with a food processor then gently fold the Oreos into the shake using a plastic spatula.
- To crush your Oreo cookies before making the shake, put them into a Ziploc bag and seal it tightly. Then crush them with a rolling pin until the desired texture.
- Ice cream. If you cannot find mint flavor, use mint Oreos and add a drop or two of mint extract to Vanilla Ice Cream or cookies and cream ice cream to get a more minty flavor.
- Soft ice cream. Let the ice cream soften for 5-10 minutes (let it sit on the counter) so it is easy to scoop out.
- To keep it fresh. To keep your peppermint milkshake thick for longer, place the cup or glass into the freezer for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Storing Info
- STORE leftovers short-term covered in the fridge.
- FREEZE. For longer storage, freeze it. When you want to eat it let it thaw a bit and then re-blend.
- My favorite way to store leftovers is to make them into ice cream popsicles. The kids love it too.
