The perfect Flavor Combo!

We love to whip up a plate of Christmas goodies to gift to neighbors and friends for the holidays. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, which is why I love to include simple recipes that can be whipped up in a flash.

White Chocolate Peppermint Pretzels are simple and SO delicious. The kids love to help dip and decorate. If you aren’t a fan of white chocolate (how could you not be) you can easily use milk or dark chocolate and add some sprinkles for extra festive fun!

And as much as I love white chocolate, the peppermint bits are even better! It’s the ultimate flavor combination of salty, sweet, and minty and makes for a Christmas classic goodie.

How to make THEM

PREP. Begin by laying out your parchment paper. Place crushed candy canes in a bowl and set aside.

CANDY COATING. Begin by breaking up your candy coating into cubes and placing in a pot on LOW heat. Melt while stirring with a rubber spatula constantly. Melt until there are no more chunks.

*Tip: Candy coating can be found in the baking section of your grocery store. You can use white chocolate chips but I think candy coating is better and easier to use. ๐Ÿ˜‰

DIP + DECORATE. Pour candy coating into a skinny and tall cup/jar. Dip pretzel rods into the candy coating and place on parchment paper. Sprinkle with candy cane pieces and/or sprinkles and let set. ENJOY!

Variations:

  • Any type of candy coating will work including almond bark
  • Use red or green food coloring to make the candy coating a Christmassy color.
  • Replace with milk or dark chocolate
  • Use any type of pretzels

Tips + SToring Info

Candy Foot: Sometimes after you have dipped your pretzels and they have been placed on the parchment paper to set youโ€™ll notice the coating pooling at the bottom. This is called a candy or a chocolate foot. To avoid it from forming don’t coat them too thickly also tap the pretzel and allow excess melted candy to drizzle off. If one still forms, then you can simply break, or trim it off.

Keeping chocolate warm and dippable: If you are worried about the chocolate hardening before you get to dip all of your pretzels, then you can try melting the chocolate in a crock pot or using a double boiler.

  • To heat using a Crockpot, place chocolate chips, candy melts, or chocolate shavings in a heat safe mason jar. Fill your crockpot up about ยฝ way with hot water. Place your jar(s) in the water filled crockpot and turn the heat on high for about 30 minutes without covering the crockpot. Stir the chips inside the jar until completely melted! After it’s all melted you can turn the pot to low and leave the jars in the crockpot because it will stay smooth and liquidy.
  • To heat using a Double Boiler, fill the bottom of a pot with 2-3 inches of water. Bring the water to a boil, then turn down the heat. Place a glass or metal bowl on top of the pot. Add the wafers to the bowl and let it melt.

STORE in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

These pretzel rods are a favorite to give as a holiday gift. Use a long candy bag to stick 2-3 in and tie it with a ribbon. If you plan to give these out I would be sure to deliver them within 2-3 days of making them.

The worst thing about these is they never last long. They are grabbed the second theyโ€™re put out.

What a great combination! I like to dip the small twisted PRETZELS. Next time I do I will have to sprinkle them with peppermint candy crumbs.
