It’s Magic!

I’ve seen layered drinks all over the internet and knew I had to try them out for Fourth of July.

The whole concept is that you can layer the drinks by the sugar content of each layer. You start off with the most sugar-y drink and put that on the bottom. I used Hawaiian Punch. Then I used G2 Blue Gatorade, and then Sprite zero on top.

Festive. It’s the perfect treat to make for your holiday and gets rave reviews not only for the look, but for the taste.
Simple. This easy drink recipe takes minutes to make and can easily be changed up for the occasion.

How to Make 4th of July Punch

PREP. Collect medium or large cups or glasses (we used large mason jars).
FRUIT PUNCH. In each glass, add a small handful of ice and pour fruit punch (heaviest sugar content) to fill the glass 1/3 of the way.
GATORADE. Add another small handful of ice and pour blue Gatorade (less sugar content) until the glass is 2/3 full.
SPRITE. Add one last handful of ice and pour sprite zero (no sugar) until glass is full. The drinks will stay layered based on the sugar content.

The whole trick is to just add ice as you go. So you add ice, then the bottom drink very slowly onto the ice. Then add more ice, then add the next drink slowly onto the ice and so on. It worked like a charm and looks so cool!!!

Recipe TipS

One Idea that I think might be fun is to freeze each type of drink into ice cubes prior to assembling this drink.

Freeze fruit punch cubes
Freeze Gatorade cubes
Freeze sprite cubes or just use ice.

Make the drinks as written in the recipe except use the punch cubes. Not only will the colored cubes aid in making each layer more colorful, but they will continue to add flavor as they melt. Regular water ice cubes just water down the drink as they melt.
