Toasted bread rounds are topped with a mixture of juicy tomatoes, ripe avocado, and fresh mozzarella to make this Bruschetta Caprese. Top it all off with a balsamic glaze!
This bruschetta caprese is similar to our traditional bruschetta, but with a caprese twist. It makes for a refreshing appetizer, especially paired with other Italian dishes.
Just 5 Simple Ingredients!
Bruschetta has been one of our long-time favorite appetizer recipes (and one of the most popular on the site)! But today’s version has a little bit of flare.
Like the original version, the bruschetta mixture is tomato based, but with the addition of fresh mozzarella and a balsamic glaze giving it more of a Caprese flavor.
We also incorporated some avocado, which isn’t traditionally part of a Caprese recipe, but it adds SO much to the bite.
You can make this Bruschetta Caprese look like a fancy appetizer, but really it’s made in minutes with just 5 ingredients mixed together and spooned over some crusty bread. No one would ever suspect its simplicity!
How to Make It
JUST MIX AND SERVE! Mix the avocado, tomato, and mozzarella together in a small bowl. Spoon the mixture onto the crostini, then drizzle with the balsamic glaze. Sprinkle the basil over the top. Serve immediately.
Bread: In Italian Crostini means little toast. You can use all sorts of different types of bread for these. Our favorite type of bread to use is a French Baguette. It is a perfectly sized crusty bread. Some other breads include:
- Italian Bread
- Sourdough Bread
- Hogi Roll
- French Bread
- Rustic Bread
To toast your bread: You can simply cut your bread and top it with the caprese mixture or you can toast it first:
- Place cut bread on a cookie sheet
- Butter each slice
- Broil on HIGH for 2-5 minutes watch closely as they can go from perfectly browned to burnt in just a few seconds. Trust me on this!
Making Ahead & Storing
Make Ahead of Time: Because of the avocado I don’t recommend making this more than 3-4 hours in advance otherwise the avocado will brown. If you want to prep the other ingredients the day before and keep them stored in separate containers you can.
Then, when you’re ready to assemble everything go ahead and cut the avocado and mix it all up.
Also, don’t top the crostini with the caprese mix until your ready to serve as the bread will get soggy after a while.
Leftovers: Leftover Caprese mixture can be STORED in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. The avocado will brown, but it is still ok to eat. Leftover, untopped, toast can be stored in a Ziploc or wrapped in foil for a couple of days.

I love this as much as your original bruschetta, which is served at almost every family holiday party. We’ll just have to make a little of both from here on out.
I know it’s supposed to be an appetizer, but I loved it so much that I could make a meal out of it. I think it would make a perfect summer lunch!
This was the best addition to our charcuterie board, I loved this bruschetta with a twist, it had tons of flavor!! These sandwiches were the first thing gone!!
Bruschetta is my all time favorite appetizer/snack. I love the addition of mozzarella and avocado to this! Perfecto!
This is my favorite appetizer to order at any restaurant! This was simple to make at home & tasted amazing! Making some again this weekend!
I like the addition of the avocados. Makes a buttery and creamy consistency.
